My tap water comes from a well, and I'm surrounded by corn fields, so there may be all kinds of chemicals in the water. Or not. It doesn't smell or taste off. I don't drink it, however. I only drink bottled water. I do use the tap water for cooking things where the water is drained off, like pasta, but I run it through a filter first.

The water is nasty here in the BC interior. It's ok when filtered, but there isn't one where I am. Most people use those big water jugs you see in offices. Where I grew up, I love the tap water.

Which is a weird trollish assertion to make both given issues with wells and the fact we literally had a high profile water crisis several years ago. Clearly it's not that simple.

Kinda, I guess. Although suburbs are kinda 50/50.

I think so, but it does taste rather awful. There was a period of time when I lived in a farmhouse that didn't have water we could drink, though. That was... interesting.

Back home, I'd drink water tap water all the time.

When we moved here, I immediately noticed an awful chemical smell and taste to the tap water and wanted a faucet filter. My wife (who doesn't drink tap water) thought I was being ridiculous so I settled for a Brita pitcher for myself.

Fast forward a few days and she's putting ice in her drink, and... I tried my best not to burst out laughing at the instant regret on her face.

It's fine after being filtered, though.

Rural swampy area, it pretty much has to be filtered.

Either we get the runnoff from the fields, the runoff form the factories or the water table is too low causing chemical reactions in the aquifer that produce a garlic smell in the water

It goes through a zero water filter and I have to change it once a month.

Yea, it is perfectly fine. I use a filter only because it has a little odd aftertaste, but I could easily survive without it.
