I remember specifically because they used the same song as the intro and outro for the longest time and it got stuck in my head just now

Channel One.
It served no useful purpose other than reducing the time between classes to about two and a half minutes. Woe be unto anyone who had to pee between History and Math.

At our school it was basically a collaboration between the A.V. kids and the newspaper kids. It was so goofy and incompetently done that I honestly wish I could have gotten in on that. Sounds like it was a lot of fun.

Yeah. We had televisions in the classrooms and they would play it for, like, the first 10 or so minutes in first period every Monday and Fridays.

We had a "radio crew" in fifth grade who did little interest segments over the intercom with Friday morning announcements. I was the anchor and then we also had someone who did sports, global trivia, school events and maybe something else. I know that my high school used to have radio broadcasting capabilities, but they were never used while I was there; it seemed like a defunct thing from the 90s. There was a rotation of kids who would do part of the announcements in high school, but not always and not the full thing.

No, but it was possible to become the person who does the morning announcements.

my high school didn't really have clubs. it had the sports teams, and it had things like band. but i dont believe there were any clubs.

they gave us 5 minutes between class. but it was an old ass 4 story building with only 4 stairwells and a pretty large population, so if your next class was multiple floors away you needed to run to the stairs before they packed up. and because they didn't give you enough time to get to your locker between classes you were running with 50+ pounds of books.

You think that's bad? My high school was made up of three fairly large builds -- (from left to right) math/science building, main building (the cafeteria was a slightly smaller building branching from the main one), and the gym -- and you had 7 or so minutes between classes to run all over the place, get to your locker and next classes.
I do not envy the people that had to go to a math class or something right after gym...
