People who don't want kids shouldn't be having them so that's fine. It's a poor flimsy reason though. People have a better quality of life and life expectancy than they did in the past, unless they think it was never right to have kids. That's kind of fucked up.

It's a fair reasoning, albeit somewhat vague and broad. In some sense, it's always a crazy fucked up world, no matter where or when you live. But when you take today's complex societal, political and environmental issues into account, I can definitely understand if people don't want to introduce new humans into that.

Personally I want no children either, because:
- I never felt the desire to become a parent.
- I have other ambitions that I'd like to invest my time, money and devotion in.
- There are other ways to contribute to the world and thus leave behind something of 'muh legacy'.
- There are too many people to sustain in the longterm, taking the environment into account as well. Redistribution of resources and habitation of currently sparsely habited areas might help, though it would have to happen on such a massive and altruistic scale that it's very unlikely to happen in the next half century.

I can't say the current state of the world doesn't factor into my agreement with the sentiment but in a much broader sense, I'm just uncomfortable forcing someone into existence on the assumption that it would be worthwhile based only onthe perception, desires, and expectations of two people (if even that). Even in ideal circumstances, there's too much out of my control to account for and I don't want to literally gamble with someone's life that things would align well enough for them to make it through the world okay.

I've been through a lot, and the thought of bringing a kid into this world for them to experience the same fate is fucking horrifying.

Though I do recognize that my feelings on the matter stem from selfishness and narcissism. Like, both of my parents were molested as children. Both of them have severe problems. But they were able to pull it together enough to raise me and my sister.

Maybe I just need to be in a better place in my life before I entertain the thought.

Pretty much how i feel about them. In my opinion children should be spared this mess. A life not conceived is avoided suffering. The only reason i would even want a child is for them to care for me when i become old but that would require them to break the cycle so i might as well just take care of my mother and be happy with what i got in this life.

I could see the statement making a lot of sense if you lived in a very unfortunate country.

Personally I have no desire for children. I feel like I'd lose interest in being around the child and mother just based on the fact that I don't like sharing my space. That wouldn't be fair to them.

No, I don't have the patience to have kids. My wife and I decided to use money that we would have wasted on kids doing things like traveling the world. Since we won't travel right now due to covid, just putting money aside for the future.

At first I would havedisagreed, but now with climate change being irreversible, I don't see the point. Shits gonna hit the fan in a few years and told you so isn't gonna matter when millions die from not only crazy disasters but the rapid shift of hot and cold climates. Oh and not to mention rampant diseases because vaccines and masks are highly political now. Yeah this worls is fucked and we are literally living in the end times. Which, ironically wasn't brought on by GOD but man's own hubris.
