Laurel Hubbard is no longer in the running for an Olympic medal after failing to perform a valid lift on her first three attempts.

where's the "bUt TeH maLe BoDy!!1" crowd at? Will you all remember this next time a transgender Olympic athlete qualifies for the games?

Better than 0 cases does, at least.

I guess you aren't counting the dozens of trans athletes that have failed to make it past the qualifiers since 2004.

the IOC already has guidelines for trans athletes and has for quite some time, most of us just aren't really dominating in sports

It's almost like not being able to participate in school-level sports without experiencing life-threatening dysphoria makes it kind of hard to reach any sort of elite status after high school.

One case of mental breakdown, to be precise.

Yall remember when fallon fox broke that woman's skull in a sanctioned MMA fight?

But yeah, one person failing out of the Olympics totally proves it to anyone else who was contentious about this clearly non-issue. Its solved.

Calling an orbital fracture (a fairly common injury in MMA, what with all the face-punching going on) a "broken skull" is more than a little misleading. I'd actually go so far as to call it fearmongering. Careful you don't get blisters from clutching those pearls so hard.

The fact someone who can't lift properly was chosen over all women shows the pure strength advantage, it being so clear as to usurp talent and technique completely.

so wait, I just want to be clear on the asinine point y'all are getting at

Sexual Dimorphism in humans is not a thing and people born genetically male do not have a physical advantage over people born genetically female?

it certainly isnt the sky is falling scenario you pretend it is

most people dont give a shit. If some trans woman wants to join the WNBA and she still has some muscle mass from back before she transitioned, then I want to go watch that game cause I bet it would be entertaining as hell to watch

it so rarely is even an issue at all but yall have been so quick to focus so much of the minds limited mental energy towards it. No wonder yall did so badly in 2020.

More accurately: Allowing trans people to compete as their target gender has been a thing for well over a decade now, and the fears about trans athletes "dominating the competition" don't seem to have come to fruition. The absolute worst example anyone can find relies on completely misrepresenting the facts of the case (an orbital fracture is no more "breaking her skull" than a broken nose would be), and even then, Fox didn't perform better than anyone else.

In theory, yeah, it's an issue. In practice, there hasn't been a real problem yet, despite plenty of opportunities. That means the most (really, only) sensible approach is to relax and let the cards fall where they will. Those making these decisions are keeping a careful eye on their ramifications, so if a problem does arise, they'll deal with it by adjusting the criteria (even now, there are requirements for hormone levels that have to be met, which can be tweaked very easily as needed). In the mean time, this fearmongering about having cis women pushed completely out of sports by trans women (mostly coming from people that couldn't have cared less about women's sports because they became an opportunity to dunk on trans people) is both baseless and pointless. Calm down.

More accurately:
Basically this. People heavily underestimate how much replacement hormones affect the body, btw. If people were actually interested in learning about this topic instead of just using it as an excuse to bash trans people, I'd recommend looking up the subject of trans people in sports on Riley Grace Roshong's youtube channel, but... *shrug*

The way we structure sports right now really sucks for intersex people, btw.
