iirc its several arcs that happen separately in the manga but in the anime they make them play out like it was all on the same day. Just a framing change

It's based on the battle music against the optional superboss of the game Undertale. The 8bit stuff in the video is also Undertale. At one point the song skips back and shows 'FILE 3 LOADED' which is a reference to a mechanic in the game.

Josuke vs Kira is my favorite final fight in the series besides the "that rain sounds like Josuke" thing. Usually, either the Jojo or the villain gets some new ability near the end that prevents the fight from being both characters using their stands to outplay each other. Bites the Dust is interesting because solving enables the fight to happen on its own, and Josuke and Kira's stands have particularly neat interactions against each other. Both characters also get assisted by whatever allies they made along the way - Josuke gets help from his group and Hayato, but Kira also gets his dad and Stray Cat. In particular, Josuke gets to implement his training with Jotaro, when he uses the glass as a projectile just like he learned when he was hunting rats. The fight also just devolves into both characters hiding from each other and flicking things through a window. Usually the final fights tend to start ramping up towards the end, but Josuke and Kira are just too injured toward the end to do anything more than limp towards each other.

Kira's my favourite Jojo villain, but I have the opposite take in that his final fight is one of my least favorites.

I like more wacky things and over the top antics in my Jojo final bosses, like with Kars and the volcano stuff, so Kira's fight was just kinda whatever to me.

The good:

- Chase is the best JoJo OP. Full stop
- the back half (or most of it) is amazing
- it did the whole 'monster of the week' thing better than Stardust Crusaders, and felt less drawn out as a result
- the slice of life elements were absolutely fun
- Hayato. Fucking Hayato
- STAR PLATINUM! ZA WARUDO!!
- honestly, if I don't mention it in the bad, then I probably enjoyed it

The bad:
- the first half was unfocused. At least with part 3, you knew from the get go where you were headed: to kick DIO's ass. Here you didn't even know there was a serial killer until halfway through
- the final arc. I get that Josuke had to fight the 'main' fight while the others were supporting. But the way how everyone had to act so dumb in order for that to happen was horrible. Part 3 did it so much better imo
- Josuke is the least likable JoJo so far. He had his good moments, but his bad ones outweighed them

The verdict: 1 < 3 < 4 < 2 so far

Then as a slap to the face Koichi, one of the ones toting the rules all the time uses act 3 to weigh down Kira's hand from MILES away when echoes act 3 is supposed to be super short range... the rules only apply when it builds (fake) tension.

Didn't he use act 3 on the mini stand that came out of killer Queens hand and that's why kira's hand got weighed down? It's been established since part 3 that hurting a stand hurts the user, so what koichi did is consistent with the rules. The bigger issue there is killer Queen having a remote stand in the first place.

But they weren't miles away in that scene. They were like less than a block away unless I'm remembering wrong. The only time they were miles away is the first time as mentioned above.

There's also a difference between stand range and stand ability range. Avdols Phoenix couldn't go very far away from him but his fire attacks extended quite a bit further. Act 3 is presumably like that.

There's also the fact that this is JoJo. Abilities and rules change all the time whenever Araki wants them to -- there's no point thinking that hard about it or getting upset when things happen a certain way later on.

Iirc, they started running towards him. Act 3 was in range first, then Jotaro

The problem wasn't Kira looping if anyone got close, it was that Jotaro was out of range. He needed to get closer so that he'd be able to attack Kira within the two seconds. Koichi using 3 Freeze gave him the chance to stop time before Kira pressed the button to loop

Yeah, Part 4 is also my least favorite beyond Part 1, at any rate. Though it was mainly because I didn't like the slice-of-life stuff. And the fact that they never had Joseph just use Hermit Purple to find Kira instantly.

In your defense, it's completely fair to criticize the series for its inconsistencies. JoJo isn't some B movie or young adult novel where you can hand wave away inconsistencies because none of it is well written. Araki is a good enough author that he can be held accountable for his errors, especially since he's the one that explicitly established those rules in the first place.

Araki has described his writing process as being like a diary. He has no problems changing his mind and even as late as Jojolion he'll redo character designs or just drop plot points that don't interest him anymore.

Even more than that. lol There was that one time in Part 3 where he slapped the ground and the soil shifted itself into a full map of the surrounding neighborhood, complete with an "X marks the spot" for where he needed to go to win the fight he was in.

He could've easily just smacked the side of some wall in Morioh and the bricks could've lit up with an arrow that pointed straight to Kira, or something. Instead we had Rohan's deranged ass taking pictures of literally every single citizen in town and manually examining every one of them.

But that's why I say it's best not to take JoJo so seriously. Just have fun watching it, because there's going to be retcons or things that don't make sense all the time, but that's just how Araki writes. It's a "bizarre" adventure for a reason.

yeah, but I mean...using his abilities was the whole reason they brought him to morioh.

it does fit in with Joseph not bothering to practice hamon between pt2 and pt3, but that just makes me more sad about how much worse Joseph becomes between each part smh
