As you can see I have mixed features and my hair isnt fully blonde or straight ergo I am not white there is something more interesting in my dna.

ancestry Dna says I am 40% English and northwestern European
37% scottish
14% irish
9% welsh

i live in the southern USA though. I am bound to have some African or native ancestry because colonists raped.

also earlier estimate says I had 1%ish of middle eastern but then the new estimate stole this from me. I mean many Jewish people in Europe were raped and treated badly so a lot of mixed dna is had.

who else has taken the ancestry test and is baffled by the results?

I took one, and was not surprised by the results since I know my heritage pretty well. I guess the Neanderthal DNA things was kind of interesting. I guess 1.8% Chinese was a little surprising.

Traits felt like a waste of time to me though. ZOMG this test says I'm most likely to have dark hair! *has dark hair*

Why do you say that so confidently? I am pissed at my ancestrydna results There has to be some skepticism on your part.

Native American

why do I say what so confidently? The results are the results. The only thing that seemed dubious to me were some claims that I came from the same stock as some members of some European royalty throughout history, but I imagine that is true of many European descendants so I bet they drum stuff like that up

It is much simpler than that, if you go back enough generations, if an individual has descendants, statistically everyone from that region is very likely to be their descendant.

While forced sex and unwanted pregnancies are obviously a part of human history, tc's obsession with it seems a bit much.

I only know my lineage from genealogical data.

Not having recent immigration in my family history probably also greatly limits my DNA origin variance.

Nice Central Asia has a very rich culture

It's all South Asian, my dad is Punjabi Sikh. The area is known for arranged marriages, so deviation isn't common.

I was more curious about my mom's side. Her side is actually West Virginia mountain folk. My uncle (grandmother's brother) showed me his collection of the family tree which showed the exact person where I got the 1.7% native (white man married a native woman about 180 years ago). My grandmother is also a member of the "Daughter's of the Revolution". My grandfather's side is a little different. It has it's fair share of bootlegger's, prostitutes', and drunks. The same uncle also helped my grandfather look through his family tree. The turned up a few name changes of the last name and a Scottish Earl that was exiled for practicing black magic.

That side of my family is pretty big on heritage and lineage. Sometimes a little too much for my liking <.<

That is very many generations ago, probably to many to actually be relevant. Not to mention, it would probably be different enough, to show up differently from modern African DNA markers. (You are straying very close to "less evolved" statements)

I feel its more adaptation rather than evolution. I mean deny facts if you want but humanity did start in africa. When I say adaptation I mean to differing environments which with technology is really no longer a problem.

Adaptation aint strictly a race thing either. My family genetics cause males in my family to be hairy as fuck. I do have Russian ancestry so as cold as that place is that seems to make sense

I just looked for one and I couldn't find it. I take everything that uncle says with a pretty big grain of salt also. He said the name would have been "Earl of Skiens" or Skeins, or some other spelling. The name was changed like 5 times after the family moved to the US, at least 1 time to avoid to a get a revoked license back after a DUI. My grandfather said he remembers his grandfather driving him into town to do it. (hopefully not after some mountain moonshine)

American history doesn't even really teach it's own history, much less Scotland. If any Scottish people here know an urban legend or a tale of an exiled Earl for Witchcraft, please share.

but yeah, from my understanding my heritage is more noble than peasant. The wealth gap is much larger in India, and my family there has multiple houses and maids. Definitely not slumdog.
