Im saying to you, enough is enough, Contee fumed during his seven-minute diatribe. Contee said that most of the communities Ive talked to have no clue what happens with these cases they dont. But Im gonna tell you the truth, he said. The real issue is we have a vicious cycle of bad actors who do things, no accountability, and they end up back in [the] community. But you cannot coddle violent criminals, Contee added. You cannot. They might not want a job. They might not. They might not need services, he said." What they may require is to be off of our streets because theyre making it unsafe for us. And if thats what it requires, then thats what it requires. And we have to own it. We have to own it. Because if not, we see more of this.

He also mentioned in the video (not in the article) that his police department is down 200 officers compared to last year and they're short staffed. Not sure if this is related to defund the police movement or officers having low morale, but probably a combination of both.

In this case, he's referring to light sentences and slaps on the wrist for people committing violent crimes or illegal gun charges. Maybe what you're referring to and what he's referring to both should be improved?

Everyone wants good well trained cops that won't protect the bad cops from consequences just cause they wear a badge. And to have repeat offender criminals and illegal guns taken off the streets. Why is so hard to get these things?

I can understand the distrust of police, but the chief's quotes imply that the criminals that have already been caught and detained are not being held accountable. They're essentially being released (hence his justice system comments)

Round my parts the parole board only makes people serve 30 days for every year they get. So someone gets an 8 year sentence and is back out breaking the law by the end of the year!
