Because it tastes good. Fat, grease, sugar, and salt taste good to all people. We are biologically programmed this way.

The societal rejection of fast food has caused you conform to those standards, which causes you to feel disgust towards the food. In response to this internalization, you 'feel sick' after eating fast food. It's very similar to how everyone thinks that they got sick after a COVID shot, even though statistics say only like 4% of people feel sick after getting the shots. It's also the same reason why so many white women have can't have gluten and feel sick, despite not having celiac disease.

How far did you have to reach in to pull this out?

The "white girls" can be full of shit, but your tastes and responses change to what you eat. When you make the switch to regularly cooking healthy meals, eating crap will make you feel like crap.

I dont have to reach far. It's basic psychology. I eat healthy all the time, and immediately recognize how tasty McD's fries are.

It's all just psychological bullshit. People think they are too good for fast food, which is hilarious. These same people don't go to Walmart, either.

It really depends what you're cooking. Buying and cooking a piece of chicken costs more than a chicken sandwich at Rally's. But the price difference isn't a reason to constantly put that trash in your body either.

i dunno how big a "piece" of chicken you are talking about, but if you shop sales, you can find 4lb value-packs of chicken breast at Vons or Aldi for like a few bucks

and i'm pretty sure one fast food chicken sandwich is not going to have anywhere near 4lbs of chicken in it

At Krogers and stuff they're 2 dollars a pound at cheapest. And I was factoring in how full they make you rather than just the weight of the chicken. All the filler shit on the sandwich and the bread makes it just as or more filling than a whole chicken breast.

Not everyone got access to the cheapest ingredients at all times. I'll chevk out Aldi's tho. Prices also seem to change depending on locations. I dunno if that's true for chicken or not.

i don't think you understand just how many meals you can get out of a 4 lb pack of chicken breast lol. it's a LOT. per meal the price does not compare at all. fast food is always significantly more expensive than cooking at home. and no one is saying to just eat a whole chicken breast and that's it. brown rice, beans, veggies, etc., are all dirt cheap too, and will be much more filling than processed white bread and mayo and iceberg lettuce.

I almost exclusively cook using chicken breasts lol. And yes, you don't just use chicken breasts. Which is what is making the cost of the complete meal even higher. You're just taking my example to heart too much. I was purposely trying to simplify it. Unless your side is always potatoes and corn or rice, your spending more than what another chicken sandwich costs. Unless Rally's prices went up dramatically since I stopped eating there. Cause I also specifically picked Rally's cause it was crazy cheap

Plus again. Im going by Krogers/Meijers/Walmart prices.

no, the cost of the meal is not higher. the total cost of purchasing everything for the meal might be higher, but you are getting much much more than one meal out of them. a whole bag of rice or beans will last you literally dozens of meals. when you break it down to what that comes out to per meal, it is significantly less than any one meal you can buy at any fast food restaurant.

Lost_All_Senses posted...

I like/need vegetables in my diet. This was about me having a weak stomach to begin with. I can't have that diet you describe. Neither can a lot of people. We need variety that gets more expensive. Which is why we're not eating fast food to begin with.

why is that an "unless" though? you are admitting that, yes, the meal is cheaper with this stuff, but that stuff somehow doesn't count.

???????

just admit it, dude, fast food is not cheaper per meal than buying ingredients and preparing food at home. this is not some radical, unbelievable concept. it has been well known since fast food has been a thing.

The real question is why do you ignore the "unless" part and continue to make an argument I already admitted works how you're saying it did. At that point you're just ignoring having a deeper conversation after I gave you that. I made it obvious life doesn't work that way for me, but you seem more concerned on winning an argument rather than talking this out with me on a more in depth level

what diet? lean protein and vegetables and complex carbs? plenty of people can have that diet, there is nothing in there that would be difficult for a "weak stomach", whatever that is. and there is plenty of potential for variety. there are so many things you can do with just potatoes, even. mashed, baked, roasted, accordion cut, wedges, hashbrowns, tater tots, etc.

Holy shit. You're literally trying to tell me how my body processes food while admittingly not understanding what Im even implying by saying I have a weak stomach XD. We're done lol.

If i eat back to back i start to feel like its all the same. Grease? Bread? Cheese? Yeah my stomach churns this into farts of sorts. When i started my weight loss 2 years ago and ate clean i would sometimes cheat with a burger. And the fries would send me scurrying to the nearest restroom because that grease isnt normal to our bodies.

the difference is a lot more dramatic than most people realize. most people who are spending 20-30 bucks per day on fast food meals and wonder why they are broke, when you can spend that same amount of money at the grocery store and, if you are smart about it and shop sales, instead of getting two or three meals out of it you can get two week's worth of meals out of it.

i didn't ignore the "unless" part though. just because i didn't quote it doesn't mean i ignored it. you still were claiming that fast food can easily be cheaper than cooking at home, and that's just not true, so that's the part i was disputing. i'm not concerned with simply "winning an argument", i'm concerned with how you didn't seem to be getting just how much cheaper it can be and usual is per meal to cook at home over getting fast food all the time. it literally doesn't compare.

I take back my baseless accusations you cleared up on the latter part. I was just mildly annoyed at the conversation. For the former part, I feel like we're just comparing different meals. Cause I wasn't thinking of the fast food that costs 20-30 dollars a day. That seems on the high end to me. That's how much Id spend at sit down restaurants. I don't think either of us are wrong. I think we're just thinking of different comparisons.

Ah yes, because the brain being inclined to like fats and sugars means that they will never have negative effects on digestion. This is why you can eat a huge bag of candy and feel great.

Fast food literally gives you a sugar rush from all the added sugars and simple carbohydrates. This will naturally lead to mood swings and generally feeling crummy and exhausted afterwards. It is also high in saturated fat which is hard to digest and has very little fiber which aids digestion. It's full of non-food fillers which can also have various effects on the body. The meat itself is of varying quality depending on the specific item, such as nuggets and most cheaper chicken sandwiches including ground-up bone and other waste parts of the chicken. Additionally, fast food is designed to encourage excessive portions by using various tricks like the appeal of salt, sugar and fats combined with ingredients that aren't filling and an expectation of ordering multiple items together, with normal portions being ridiculously overpriced while much larger items have a small marginal increase in cost. Virtually everything about fast food will make the average person feel like shit after eating it in the intended way from a biological standpoint.

Yet you spew complete shit out of your mouth with confidence because you're just that full of yourself.

Everything you said is true, but it's not something that would happen from an occasional bite of fast food unless you have digestive abnormalities like IBS which may respond to fatty/salty food.
