I'm not at a low point, but I broke up with my gf after 2 brutal days of just constant fighting/I'm in the middle of a career change so any motivation will be nice :)

I guess for me, it was when I lived in some **** small village in the Dakotas with my first job out of college making borderline minimum wage. It was awful and I had just had it at that point because I almost lost my finger at work/some waitress flaked on me that night, so I had a subtle thought of jumping in the river, but I just got super drunk and broke glass everywhere. I ended up having the courage to leave that job, got my previous job that I quit that also gave me the stepping stones to Houston and here I am now lol. I am in much better shape, more mature, and better with the ladies. The summer of 2006 was a rough time for my dad and the songs from that period give me some boost :(

second flare up of my ulcerative colitis I guess, prednisone didnt help, I was bleeding out, was extremely weak and quite underweight after 3 months of being barely able to eat and having to run to the bathroom 20+ times a day, thankfully when I was hospitalized the IV steroids worked, got a blood transfusion, started a maintenance medication, gained most of the weight back after 2-3 months, switched to a whole food plant based diet and started hitting the gym, that all happened roughly 4-5 years ago, Im in pretty good shape now, feel healthy despite needing to inject myself with biologics every week. Id even say Im in better shape now at 35 than I was at 20

Being born.

It got better when I learned that death is granted to us all. For free even! That's a good deal, you don't even gotta buy Death a drink. But you probably should, she works hard for our sake.

My sister has ulcerative colitis and she was basically screwed until she lived on her own because my dad wouldn't cook and my step mom was a ****. She ended up finding out that a gluten free diet was the best thing for her condition and has been fine since.

yeah its different for everyone, I do well with gluten, think one thing that has also helped me a lot is drinking a shake filled with pre biotics, followed by some Kefir that contains a load of probiotics

You know whats kinda sad? Part of me wanted to share but unfortunately I immediately thought of how theres some posters here who use personal stories against you during petty e-fights just to get a good insult in. Like, "oh, youre an alcoholic? Let me find convenient moments to bring that up to use as a dig against you." Shame I feel this way about CE but it is what it is

All my friends moved out of town. Then I got attacked by a group of drunk douchebags and broke my sacrum (lower back). I couldnt move my legs, so obviously I couldnt walk. I was stuck in an apartment with my brother who would do stuff like pour beer on my bed and take my pain medicine. My parents didnt show up until I was back on my feet.

I had resentment toward the whole family and toward life itself. I was so miserable I had literally moved across the country to get away from addiction to painkillers, and here I was again getting more than ever before hundreds at a time.

When I finally had to quit taking the pain meds, I was so upset and incomplete that I started drinking heavily. Eventually, I got to the point where I would drink one of those giant, plastic jugs of vodka every night and wake up in a pile of vomit, piss, and my own blood sometimes. This went on for a couple years. Maybe three?

Next, I wound up as an inpatient for substance abuse for a few days. Then I went to outpatient, where I started to feel better about myself. I actually made a really good friend there. Then some piece of human shit raped and murdered her and threw her body in a state park. This was all close to the 2016 election, which is partially why I was such an asshole to everyone here during that period of time (not trying to make excuses, its more of an explanation).

I never really did get over of it, but things certainly were much worse at the start of it. The whole saga dragged out for about nine years. Ive been sober for five years almost (this 9/11), but Ive recently been struggling with cravings to drink again.

Once I got back on my feet, I got my family dog Sunny, and she really helped me feel better.

Ive seen this happen before, but the board usually rips people up for trying to shame someone for that stuff, regardless of who says it.

Its okay. I brought most of it on myself and I am stable enough to where I can trust myself to stay away from alcohol and people who drink it in excess. Sometimes I think you have to go through some bad times to shape the person you want to be, and its still in progress, but Im optimistic that I will get there.

My back is perfectly fine now. I actually broke my big toe right after I got back on my feet, and that never did heal, but it wouldnt have happened if I hadnt been junked out on that garbage that the doctors were giving me (hydrocodone, Percocet, and norco).

The lowest point in my life was mostly caused by 2 different things that were both my fault:

I was in love with a girl who didn't love me back but I kept spending a lot of time with her. It was really dumb and ate away at me.

I was working way too many hours at a job I hated.

I got rid of both of these things within a year of each other and ever since then my mental health has been improving significantly.
