Conservative outrage after a Penn State University Professor singles out an "average white guy" student in class and asked him to come up during a discussion on White Privilege

Dr. Sam Richards, known for his provocative and popular lectures had a packed auditorium on June 30h as part of an introductory class on race and culture as he marched into the crowd and asked a white guy in a baseball cap and hoodie to stand up who gave his name as Russell

He says "I just take the average white guy in class, whoever it is, it doesn't really matter. Look at Russell, right here. It doesn't matter what he does. If i match him up with a black guy in class, or a brown guy, even, who's just like him, has the same GPA, looks like him, walks like him, talks like him, acts in as similar way, has been involved in the same groups on campus, takes the same leadership positions, whatever it is..and we send them into the same jobs, Russell has a benefit of having white skin."

He then ushers another white student with a black student and says "Bro, how does it feel knowing that when push comes to shove, your skin's kind of nice?" as the white guy says "I don't know, it makes me feel sad."

But conservatives claim this is what CRT does and makes white people feel guilty fo their skin as Andrew Sullivan writes "The key to bigotry is taking a generalizatin and applying to a random unique individual. Sue this professor"

Another says 'When is Dr. Sam Richards going to resign his position to a black professor due to his white privilege?".

Another noted "This is what CRT does. Makes White people the enemy when they have done the MOST GOOD in the world. This due is a hater. Pure and simple. He teaches how to hate white people"

Republican States are now issuing bans on CRT in schools as they are taking on this issue in their main platform in the coming 2022 midterms

Precisely, it assumes that everything that isn't equally benefiting all colours is inherently due to their categorisation based on the colour of their skin i.e. racial inferiority. It makes no attempt to justify its claim, it simply says people who are of x colour are inherently better/worse off and makes the hierarchy it claims to fight.

It's classic post-modern racism.

I'm liberal and this is clearly a very bad thing to do.

If you can replace "man" with "woman" or "white" with "of color" and it becomes something they would fire or suspend a teacher over, it's bad. It's not a hard concept.

White privilege is a statistical imbalance and not some wide sweeping free pass, but even if it was this would still be inappropriate.
