What type of area do you prefer to live in?

Note that I'm asking for your ideal living location, not necessarily where you are living now.

I live in a pretty rural setting, and I like it.

About 10 miles from "town" where there is a grocery store, Walmart, bars, etc.
But about 25 minutes from real cities, with movie theaters and stuff like that.
I do live about 1 mile from a major highway though, so I can get places quick.

Between suburban and suburban light. It's definitely not expensive. But that's because we got violence and mostly people with no prospects.

I'm living in a house that cost 10k to completely own. Thanks to an auction

I lived in a similar location for about 8 years. Rural but 30 minutes away from the closest major city. We had a half acre property, which was average in the area, yet the town we lived in had a Walmart, so it wasn't lacking in basic amenities.

Now I'm living in this weird pocket just outside city limits where it's rural light but only like 5 miles away from downtown. It's basically a nature preserve where they built a city around it, so if you own a house in that preserve, you are basically in the wilderness but the city is a bike-ride away.

My ideal is no one within two miles that I didn't personally ask to be there. But that's expensive, so I generally settle for what you have as light rural. Life goals, though.

I live in the suburbs. I like the suburbs. Just not this suburb.

So many fucking racist old white people here it's kind of disgusting. Especially because they look at me, see someone who looks like them, and usually just assume that I have the same beliefs and that it's ok to say racist shit to me and around me. I call them out for it whenever reasonably possible, but it's kind of depressing how frequently I have to walk away because I know that nothing productive or helpful is going to come from engaging them.

urban light, and that's pretty much where i've lived for the bulk of the past 8 years. You get the benefit of having downtown a 5 minute walk away, but the benefit of quiet

grew up in small town suburbia.

I like urban because you can walk or ride the subway everywhere, and there's a lot of stuff going on around you. However, there's no way I'm paying for that shit.

Pretty much all the benefits of what I like without the downsides. Like living downtown would be awesome but the constant shit going on would be a bit exhausting. I'd rather live adjacent to it

Suburban, the best of both worlds as your close to both the city/populated areas, but also in 10 minutes or less you can go into a rural area to enjoy nature.

If push came to shove I would choose rural over urban though, I would hate to live in a city for a long time.

I've lived in an either suburban or rural area for so long that I still get shocked at how bad parking is when I go into the city downtown.

I live an easy 10 minute drive from a huge city. I never go there because I don't have a stable parking spot, and the parking is literally 5-6 bucks per hour.

Meanwhile, I live 20 minutes from a tiny but trendy downtown area, where I can always get a spot in the main lot, and has free parking on Sundays or $1 an hour when it isn't, and even if you get ticketed the penalties are around $20.

I go there all the time, lol.
