American Airlines was forced to CANCEL a flight from North Carolina to the BAHAMAS after a group of 30 TEENAGERS aged 17 and 18 who were on their way to party hardy for the summer vacation REFUSED to wear MASKS while on the flight and screaming their freedoms and were then forced to sleep at the airport overnight because they were too young to check in to a HOTEL!!

Flight 893 was supposed to leave Charlotte Douglas International when passengers say the group of rowdy kids from Boston started being "very obnoxious" and yelling about wearing masks

They were on their way to a graduation trip as it's not clear who was chaperoning the misfits as AA only allows those aged 15-17 to travel unaccompanied

Stephanie Kryzwankis filmed herself while on a call with News19 from the plane as a young man behind her waves and says he aint wearing no mask

The group of seniors were celebrating their graduation and were being rowdy and refusing to wear masks

A spokesperson confirmed the group was non-coplaint with the federal mask mandate that requires mask on plane

But the teens became disruptive to other passengers and yelled obscentities and wouldn't follow instruction who claimed the mask mandate was OVER

Malik Banks who was sitting next to them said "It was bad. Firstly they yelled, then they cussed and they were obnoxious. It wasn't all of them but i'd say 80 percen tof them were terrible kids"

They were forced to wait 6 HOURS before they were told what was going on

Christina Randolph said "All they had to do was follow the rules, put the mask on, sit there, o smart mouth comments. They couldn't do i"

It was rescheduled the next morning as all passengers including the teens were rebooked AFTER they agreed to wear the masks

Those on flight were given free hotel and meal vouchers except the teens

I feel bad for the 20% of the group that weren't acting up. The other 80% ruined it for them.

If they were traveling to another state they'd be right. COVID is over in America but they traveling to other countries they should be wearing a mask.

I flew a month or so back. Masks are mandated by law at the checkpoint and on all planes. Don't want to wear a mask? Don't fly.

I was there a week ago, the entire airport is filled with signs saying you gotta wear the mask in the airport and on the plane. I remember the pilot coming on the speakers and saying if youre gonna fall asleep make sure the mask is fully on your face so they dont have to wake you up.

They have to take all their bags out of the plane. Its a whole thing.

Plus the crew can only work so many hours a day. If they were at or close to that limit, they'd have to find a new pilot, and or crew and they don't like to do that - assuming replacements can be found at all.

As much as I don't like how airlines operate, they really should enact a policy that if you break rules like this to cause delays or even cancellations, then you are forced to recoup the cost for the airline, employees, AND the other passengers.

That part actually brings up something that bugged me about this. Not that they lost a day. That they didn't lose more. I'm irritated after all the bullshit they caused they were still able to get on a new flight the next day

flew through north carolina on american and honestly it was a terrible experience, was delayed multiple times going both directlions.

wonder if it was because of stupid shit like this.

I flew last month on American Airlines. No food or drink service because they didn't want to deal with douches ordering a pepsi or whatever and nursing it for 5 hours without a mask.

So I haven't been on a flight recently but my dad has - similar to the other posters after I'd say your points about eating/drinking and proper mask use seem to be incorrect. As for the low transmission - isn't that *because* of the strict guidelines/ enforcement? And broadly speaking, what's the downside to requiring masks during the flight? Airlines require seatbelts during takeoff and landing though the number of accidents during that time are very low.

Airplanes have HEPA filters that help scrub the air more so than anything

Seatbelts are good for confining everyone to their seats during rapid acceleration and deceleration on top of being good in a crash

But it seems masks are kinda pointless on planes and doing pointless things is pointless

But I'll wear it cause it ain't my plane
