Huh, this is a tough one. I'll go 7/10.

I love Kyle Hyde as the lead and it has some other good characters, but the general premise that everyone who can help him figure out what happened to his partner is all conveniently staying in the same hotel feels super contrived (because it is).

Rich character work especially with Kyle & Mila, gorgeous theming with its setting, and a gripping mystery all around. I'd say the game has fault in its pacing and way it doles out pieces of the narrative.

As someone who has this game in their top 60 of all-time, I will say that Kyle Hyde is 100% the reason for that. One of the best protags ever. The cast around him is also really good, but the overarching story isn't all that outstanding, mainly for the reasons Leon said.

That said, if we ever got Last Window, I'd give that one a 9 or a 9.5

Oh yeah, Last Window is fantastic. They take the formula from Hotel Dusk and really improve upon it.

While the main plot was intriguing and Kyle Hyde is a very good character, I was bored with quite a bit of the downtime fluff in the game. The beginning and end are really good which is why it gets this score.

The sequel is much better in every way.

One of the few games I played but can't rank because I barely remember it

It's a magic hotel though so it's justified.

6 I'll say. There's a fair amount of good stuff but it's messy throughout, could do with being more cohesive. And I was always bothered by *ending spoilers* Dunning not facing any consequences for ATTEMPTED MURDER of Kyle at the end lol. As others have said the sequel improves upon it significantly in every single way, it's a shame so few have played it with it never coming to the US!

So, next in the nominations is Fire Emblem Fates Revelations. I am thinking of doing one day for all of Fire Emblem Fates allowing people to rate each component and give an overall score also. The reason for this is that Fire Emblem Fates isnt a series of three games it was sold as two games and an expansion but is really one game with two expansions where you get to choose which of two is the main game and which is the expansion.

Does that sound reasonable?

IMO Fates is just one game with three routes (just like Three Houses), but I don't have any issue with letting everyone rank the routes separately. *shrug*

I do think it's a good idea to do it all in one day though.
