Probably didn't help that Samus Returns was in development at the exact same time. Just wanted to mention it as a "free" and much more accessible (gameplay wise) version of Metroid 2 that plays closer to Super. I blitzed through but it took a weird turn, sort of like a Pokmon game. I went from trying to collect badges to be the very best to saving the world. Those challenges were way harder than the actual golfing. All together I think they could have expanded it, but I'm here for the multiplayer anyway. SA-X, on the other hand, killed me around a dozen times. The fight was really fun once I got the rhythm down, though, I didn't even mind dying as the final boss was in mid-death animation on my first attempt. Fun game to revisit, must have been at least a decade since I last played it. Have to echo the complaints about the limitations on exploration, though. That said, I like the story and atmosphere Fusion brings, but I think SA-X combat is a bit too harsh (the chase and his actual boss fight took me the most attempts out of anything in the game. Played The Banner Saga twice, but I'm probably down to replay it again. Just need to decide if I want to play the PC or Switch version (I don't own TBS2 or 3 on PC, but the Switch versions don't have survival mode, so I'm considering buying them anyway.) Only the first game is part of next month's slate of games (the original nominator never specified, but I used my discretion). I'm not sure if they are integrated into one seamless game or you can choose which game from the main menu.
