ARVADA, Colo. (KDVR) Arvada police said Gordon Beesley, the Arvada police officer killed in Mondays shooting in Olde Town, was ambushed and targeted because he was a police officer.
In a Tuesday press conference, Arvada Police Chief Link Strate also identified the other person killed in the shooting as 40-year-old John Hurley, of Golden.
Strate released few other details, citing the ongoing investigation, but stressed that the suspect, who has not yet been identified, deliberately targeted Beesley.
While we dont yet have all the facts, I can tell you that Gordon was targeted because he was wearing an Arvada Police uniform and a badge, Strate said in a Tuesday news conference. Officer Beesley was ambushed by a person who expressed hatred of police officers.
trate said investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and the community is safe.
We are hurt and troubled, but most importantly, we are committed to the protection of this community, our community, that we all love, and to honor Officer Gordon Beesley and Mr. Hurley, Strate said.
Strate said that police have not yet made any connection between the suspect and Hurley, who police have identified as a Samaritan in the incident, although they have not yet released more information about what happened.

Everything is documented & every source I reviewed supports the statistic I noted.

Interpretation: They arrest shoplifters on behalf of store owners & hand out citations for traffic violations. Profiling police officers as the bad guys is wrong on so many levels. It is a form of discrimination and it is inaccurate. You cant have a country without those who protect, serve, and uphold the law. You can, however, have a country without criminals.

I would assume that, you know, the fact that cop related deaths aren't half as high as people pretend like they are would be a big notifier that most cops don't cause suffering or fire their weapon at suspects.

But, I mean, maybe I'm wrong and secretly there are millions more cop related deaths and every cop's life is a constant action movie but instead of cool explosions they just shoot everyone.

the discussion people are skipping is that cops can and do hurt lives without firing theirs guns. arresting people and causing them distress and even unfairly causing their loss of income because of a bogus arrest can cause tons of harm. even going around and following certain people and asking them intimidating questions can influence people in a variety of ways

everyone else can get punished. if a cop unfairly arrests an innocent, then the cop most likely won't even get punished. at most, a slap on the wrist. if they bully certain people, intimidate them, go around following them in stores, telling them they "don't belong here", generally harassing people, then nothing will happen to the cop. cops have way too much protection for what should be a service oriented job
