at first i absolutely hated mr peanut butters. like, when he was first introduced. goddamn i was not liking him at all.

but he quickly became a really interesting character and i actually thought he was great by the end.

todd was and always will be pretty annoying though.

Todd was like the shows punching bag that they decided to try to make a deep character for some reason and failed. Should have just left him as the punching bag.

Beginning of the show, Mr PB was the more annoying one, but by the end it was definitely Todd.

Bojack did a lot of crummy things to Todd but I didn't like how Bojack took all the heat for that fling with Emily yet Todd never gave her shit for it when it was mutual, if not initiated by Emily, after Todd brushed off all her advances without an explanation.

ETA: Also he had the least interesting arcs throughout the show of any of the main cast, pretty much all the Todd episodes are the ones I dislike the most.

no- princess, todd, and diane were all true friends to bojack. mr peanutbutter never was. the final episode showcased well how those relationships changed.

mr peanutbutter never wavered in his friendly-but-false demeanor to bojack.

todd offered genuine forgiveness, but conditionally. "turn yourself around."

princess washed her hands of him, but was willing to maintain a friendly acquaintanceship.

and diane, closest of them all, gave him the truth. his actions had ruined their friendship for good, and he'd have to live with that.

Mr. Peanut Butter. I love them both, but I found Todd's arc way more compelling, and by the last episode I was much more endeared to him compared to Mr. Peanut Butter.

Like PB has his ups and downs, like in his relationship with Diane he shows more nuance than his usual buddy-buddy self, but Todd gets much more of an arc as Bojack's closest friend. And by the final episode I feel like he and Bojack had such a dynamic relationship that their ending genuinely tied everything up in a neat little bow, whereas Mr. Peanut Butter is more of the same.

It's like... what does Mr. Peanut Butter go through over the course of the show? It's all great, and I'd argue that the comedy stemming from PB is one of the things about the show that keeps it so fresh alongside the drama of it all, but outside of his exuberant personality all I can really think of is later season stuff with Diane. While his one-notedness is played with, he is ultimately pretty consistent over the entire show, and even up to his final scene his full-on nature is kinda grating and hard to take seriously.

But Todd, for all his goofiness, goes through a lot. The whole video game thing, which is the first step in his rejection of Bojack, the stuff with his friend which drives them apart and leads to his characterisation as asexual, everything that stems from that previous spoiler which is fantastic even when it's completely divorced from the main plotline, becoming arguably the first person to forgive Bojack and come back into his life - leading to the finale, where they share a moment and reflect on the journey they've been on.

For all his flaws, I found Todd to be a much more enriching character than Mr. Peanut Butter. He's annoying and goofy at times, but I think the value of his arc over the course of the show gave him a well-roundedness that made up for his annoying shortcomings at times. Mr. Peanut Butter, for the most part, is... Mr. Peanut Butter. I like him, but what you see is what you get, and what you get is a lot to deal with sometimes.

Yeah.I didnt think of it like that. Todd also lied initially about Hollyhock and also lied initially about Channing Tatum being a dad through dna lol

Why do you think PB wasn't a true friend. Honestly only a friend picks you up from jail. And that sounds like a joke but it is not.

Also fucking Diane stunt with the writing his personal into the story was not done to help him , she wanted to hurt him. How is that the mark of a true friend.

In addition to picking Bojack up from jail, Mr. PB also let Bojack crash at his place and asked for nothing in the last few episodes. It is fair to say Mr. PB is annoying to be around, but I would call him a friend to Bojack.

On the other hand, Princess Caroline only invites Bojack to her fake wedding for the publicity. Not that I blame her after all the shit Bojack has pulled.
