Say for example most viewers have disabled ads via Adblock?

Or they dont get ads because theyre all on YouTube premium, does that reduce the amount of revenue that a YouTuber gets?

It sure does reduce their revenue which is why they beg/force you to turn Adblock off when you visit certain sites.

99.9% of the time the ads won't get me to buy anything anyway...

it's only if I find out a new game that I want is out through one, or a really good deal on things.

If people don't want to pay for something, and they disable ads with adblock, the next step is to have the ads directly baked into the video, which we see now. A lot of videos have minute long ads for dollar shave club and other businesses directly into the video.

Well I was thinking more about YouTube specifically, rather than just a typical website.

like if most of my subscribers or viewers are on YT premium or have Adblock, would I get less money from YouTube ads? Or does the ad revenue thing on YT not work that way

They still get money from YT Premium views, but not regular views that bypass the ads.

I have to wonder at how worthwhile it is to be an advertiser. People are making millions off of ad revenue. But are the advertisers getting an equal return on their investment? I block ads. And when I don't block ads, I've never seen an ad that convinced me to buy anything. That's the goal, right? To get people to buy stuff? Are people buying stuff or are they blocking ads?

A lot of viewers don't disable ads, and afaik adblocking still isn't super-common on mobile (and not used at all if people are sticking the YT app instead of opening it in a browser or third-party app)

YT premium would compensate them, it's part of the reason for premium existing.

In general, they tend to have multiple revenue streams -- traditional ad revenue (including YT's paid options), sponsor revenue, and Patreon (and other direct donations).

Do you mean sponsorships or are you starting to see the actual ads edited directly into videos?

content creators actually get surprisingly little for adviews, which is why most of them take sponsorships

He means actual ads, such as reading off a script advertising the product. They're not passive things, they're actively delivered (and skipped).
