One time they tried to steal money from me and my family. Luckily my brother noticed a traffic cam and told them he couldn't pay the "fine" because it would end badly for everyone and they let us go.

More negative than positive. Most of them complained that they had to do this or had to do that. Hey pal, I did not order you to become a police officer. If you hate your job, that is not my fault

Positive, but FUCK traffic cops.

Everytime I got pulled to the side for being involved in a streetfight, I'd chill out and they'll pick up on that vibe and lower their guard around me.

They've always been very respectful towards me even if I was in the wrong, which goes a long way.

Usually positive >_> I work with them once in a while and they saved my ass more than once, including shooting a guy that was trying to kill us

The only negative interaction I had that I can think of was when I was dealing with a rape victim and one of the cops on scene was clearly angry that this was happening and got held over cuz of it lol

Only had 2 interactions with cops "stopping" me.

1 was for a fix it ticket for all my tail lights being out. I didnt even know they were out. Turns out it was just a fuse and i didnt have to pay anything.

Other time i happened to be walking by an abandoned building that had some teenagers in it who broke in and were rummaging around. I told them i was just walking by and had nothing to do with them. They took my info and let me keep walking.

Negative, but I still support the police. Honestly, the thing about cops is that you'll rarely need them so you're more likely to encounter them at times when you don't want them.

Mixed. As a kid they took me home after getting some ice cream and McDonald's while they dealt with a drunken family member that I was driving with. I personally called them with said drunk person's phone to tell them "I think my(family member) is lost, we're on the wrong side of the road."

Years later I realized just how fucked up the situation was and why I didn't see them much afterwards.

Recently, I was handcuffed and detained on the side of the road under the accusation of car theft, despite the car I was in not matching the vehicle stolen, and being about a foot taller than even the most generous description of the suspect.

That cop actually apologized though, so.

Mostly positive. One time I busted up my tire on the road because a sewer lid was sticking askew, and a cop saw me pulled off to the side and was a really big help, even helped me get the city to pay for all the damage (I also had some minor damage from a previous car accident and he got the city to pay for that, too).

But, I've been pulled over for ticky tacky things, but the cops were all nice and let me go, so I guess that's a neutral experience.

Usually cold and calm.

Of course me and my friends never really dealt with uniform or beat cops.

It was always the suit and tie types.

Always asking questions about some burglary or vandalism even when they didn't suspect any involvement.

Just making rounds mostly or having something to do.

Only positive. I walk by tons of cops by the courthouses I frequent for work and they always give me a friendly nod and/or good morning/afternoon.

Also, while not a personal interaction, I did see something that was hilarious. Some douchebag made a turn out of a parking lot the wrong way down a one way street, then made an illegal left turn through a red light. There was a police car parked at the corner that promptly pulled him over lol

Been pulled over once in my life, it was on my birthday, I had a military ID, he let me off with a warning for an out of state illegal u-turn. Guy was professional and respectful the entire time, this was in New Jersey and I was an out of state driver from PA.

Besides that, the town I live in here has 5 officers total, I fish with a couple of them. I have never heard of anything corrupt from that station in my 10+ years living here. They all seem like decent guys.

well, i watched a resource officer bust into my classroom in HS, start kicking over chairs, and then toss down and arrest a kid because someone had wedged an empty pack of smokes under the seat he was in. that bitch was a psycho.

beyond that i've only had one other interaction with a cop. got stopped walking from a public bus stop because i "looked suspicious" for stepping back at an intersection to let the guy speed through instead of playing a game of chicken.

Only one negative one, when I got pulled over for speeding in a zone I thought was 20 mph higher and I didnt think the cop was trying to pull me over for speeding. So he was a little gruff with me because he thought I was trying to evade, I guess. But I ended up with just a regular ticket.

Hes probably never had an interaction with a cop or the slight chance he has then absolutely nothing at all happened.

You can tell with how tough hes talking.

But youre absolutely right. Ive been pulled over probably at least 10 times and treating a human like a human goes a long way.

When I was in college we were throwing an on campus house party. Campus security instead of asking us to quiet down or turn down the music, called in a serious situation, so Tactical Squad was called in, aka Ontarios version of a swat team. Bunch of assholes with assault rifles show up and threatened me and my roommates saying that we could spend years inside because of this party, which is of course horseshit, we literally threw another party the next night, nothing happened.

Cops in my home province Ive always gotten along with though. RCMP get much more strict training than a power tripping provincial police force full of goofs.

Both, I suppose. When I was a teenager, a bunch of us got arrested for public intoxication after we got drunk and someone started a fight. They had us lined up against the cars while they figured out what to do with us.(Full disclosure, had it not been for me, they would have just let us all go home with a warning, there were too many of us to bring to the station.).

I had to piss, told the cop this, and he told me to piss my pants if I had to go that bad. I decided this was not an acceptable plan, whipped it out, and started pissing. He came over to... try to stop me? Unclear. I ended up pissing on him. BAM. Sexual assault on a police officer charge.

Long story short, judge tossed it out, and I had it expunged from my record. However, there is a nationwide database that this charge is still in, and it comes up when cops run my name. It gives no details, it just says *My name* - Arrested and charged for sexual assault of a police officer. The exactly same message it would give if I raped a cop. Sometimes it says charges dropped, sometimes it doesn't.

Due to this, every single time I get pulled over or questioned by the cops, they draw their gun on me. Not pointing it at me, but out. So every single experience I've had with cops starts out real bad, but once I give the memorized speech on what happened and they see that I'm not a threat, it always swings back hard the other way, and they always treat me really well, almost as an apology for the gun thing.

And to answer the first question I always get, yes, I can have this fixed. However, I have to fly back to the other side of the country, pay a bunch of money, and go through endless bureaucratic bullshit to do. Seeing as I'm older and only deal with the cops every few years now, it's not really a big enough issue to warrant the expense and aggravation.

Edit:
OH. There was also the time I got raided by a SWAT team and woke up with a guy kneeling on my chest with a shotgun in my face. He was really nice, he lit and ashed cigarrettes for my while the manhunt went on in the other rooms. But that was SWAT, and they were after a guy on a murder spree so...
