Both, I suppose. When I was a teenager, a bunch of us got arrested for public intoxication after we got drunk and someone started a fight. They had us lined up against the cars while they figured out what to do with us.(Full disclosure, had it not been for me, they would have just let us all go home with a warning, there were too many of us to bring to the station.).

I had to piss, told the cop this, and he told me to piss my pants if I had to go that bad. I decided this was not an acceptable plan, whipped it out, and started pissing. He came over to... try to stop me? Unclear. I ended up pissing on him. BAM. Sexual assault on a police officer charge.

Long story short, judge tossed it out, and I had it expunged from my record. However, there is a nationwide database that this charge is still in, and it comes up when cops run my name. It gives no details, it just says *My name* - Arrested and charged for sexual assault of a police officer. The exactly same message it would give if I raped a cop. Sometimes it says charges dropped, sometimes it doesn't.

Due to this, every single time I get pulled over or questioned by the cops, they draw their gun on me. Not pointing it at me, but out. So every single experience I've had with cops starts out real bad, but once I give the memorized speech on what happened and they see that I'm not a threat, it always swings back hard the other way, and they always treat me really well, almost as an apology for the gun thing.

And to answer the first question I always get, yes, I can have this fixed. However, I have to fly back to the other side of the country, pay a bunch of money, and go through endless bureaucratic bullshit to do. Seeing as I'm older and only deal with the cops every few years now, it's not really a big enough issue to warrant the expense and aggravation.

Edit:
OH. There was also the time I got raided by a SWAT team and woke up with a guy kneeling on my chest with a shotgun in my face. He was really nice, he lit and ashed cigarrettes for my while the manhunt went on in the other rooms. But that was SWAT, and they were after a guy on a murder spree so...
That really, sucks, but this made me laugh so much. I can just imagine cops running your name, seeing that pop up and just being really freaked out by "sexual assault of a police officer"

I laugh my ass off every single time. I watch it happen in the rear view when they run my plates, and you can see the double take, then they look at my car, and then they get really tense. Such is life.

The only time it's ever worried me, was a female cop pulled me over, and I watched her call for backup. Remember, same message as if I tried to rape a cop. The chances get a lot higher that something will go bad when there's four cars behind me, and a literal squadron of police officers are walking towards my car. Everything turned out fine, I just made real sure not to suddenly move.

Only positive. I even lived a porn intro once where I was fresh out of the shower and two hot female cops ringed the bell to ask questions.

Mostly positive. I was arrested a couple of times when I was younger and had some minor words with a state trooper with a shitty attitude once.

highway are pretty cool, its the city cops that tend to suck. City cops where I live are kind of useless. I only say that as I worked security for a number of years and I've had people on camera stealing stuff(I don't attempt to confront them as my security company was even more useless... wouldn't let us have any form of self defense items as "it could be taken away from us". So: No pepper spray, no police baton, nothing. Not even a flashlight or a cell phone. I really wish that company had been shut down.

Anyways, back to the story, had the guys on camera stealing batteries from cars. Called the cops and they pretty much said "we can't do anything. How do you know people didn't ask them to take the battery out of their car?"

I actually flipped out at them and called them useless, I wish they had pulled me into some form of courtroom so I could expose how useless they are. Same thing happened with my parents house. Someone broke into the house, and stole a bunch my moms jewelry, nothing could be done. They weren't going to investigate it.

Positive, but I did have a negative experience with a police officer giving me a ticket because I honked at a guy to go on a protected left turn for "disturbing the peace". Fucker didn't the other asshole driver a ticket for clearly being on his phone.

Universally negative.
It doesn't matter what the cop's demeanor is, he/she is there to ruin someone's day.

My interactions have been all positive as far as fair treatment. Obviously bring given a citation isn't a positive, but the cops weren't assholes or anything.

You say that, but you have no idea what state the guy you replied to lives in. In many states refusing a breath test can get you in trouble. My state, for example, will treat it the same as a DUI and suspend your license.
Dont they still need to have probable cause? This cop thought he did but was proven wrong. Otherwise they can just go around stopping everyone, saying well I thought you were drinking take a breath test and arresting everyone who refuses. Id imagine its similar to illegal searches of the vehicle.

In some states its an automatic license suspension on your first appearance to court iirc. I might be wrong, but thats what Ive always been told.

My experiences have been mostly positive. Only negative experience was that one cop, who was an asshole for no reason during my arrest

Power tripping assholes with nothing better to do
I never understood this. How can you have nothing better to do? Like should I be jobless at home sleeping?

you dont need probable cause to test for intoxication. If an officer believes the subject is under the influence they can perform sobriety tests
