I liked Edgar Allen Poe as a kid so instead of just reading the token one or two stories of his we read in school I picked up a biography and a large compilation of his works, learning that he was a much more nuanced man and author than what my English teacher had told the class. Someone who was actually interested in thingd like civil rights or understanding racism in America, would have reasonable heard about Tulsa at some point in their own research. Like I said this isn't some davinci code stuff, the information that such a thing happened is pretty surface level.
