Since when can countries not have the same name for holidays? Many countries have their own Independence Days too, we all call it the same thing. So why can't America call its Emancipation Day just that?
Because Emancipation day and Juneteenth are different days.

He did though. Juneteeth was a local holiday in Texas until 2019 when Trump was to hold a rally on June 19th. Being opportunistic, journos reported this as racist and unacceptable.

Previous to that no one outside of Texas had heard of it. This fact check is true. Trump contributed greatly to making juneteenth a holiday.

I think you are thinking of the Tulsa race massacre, which I also learned about from the Watchmen tv show (sadly enough).
Watchman was the ad campaign for a revisionist history push. We're living in 1984.

Hardly anything is taught in schools beyond the absolute basics, and yet everyone is more informed than than in various subjects because they chose to do their own research on their own time. I liked Edgar Allen Poe as a kid so instead of just reading the token one or two stories of his we read in school I picked up a biography and a large compilation of his works, learning that he was a much more nuanced man and author than what my English teacher had told the class.

Someone who was actually interested in thingd like civil rights or understanding racism in America, would have reasonable heard about Tulsa at some point in their own research. Like I said this isn't some davinci code stuff, the information that such a thing happened is pretty surface level. Now if a person doesn't actually care about such things their ignorance is understandable, I don't care about sports so I can't tell you even basic info about even the most popular ones, but on the other hand I've never pretended to care about them to seem like a better person than I actually am.

Anyone who relies on the American public school system to teach them anything outside of the basics is a fool and anyone who doesn't realize that's all that they do and there is a whole world of other information out there they can look into if they are interested is a bigger fool. Key words being "if they are interested", if someone who doesn't care about racism, or only cares about it on a surface level to look good hasn't heard of Tulsa I wouldn't be surprised or hold it against them.

This doesnt make sense. If she didnt know about the Tulsa Massacre at all before, how would she know what to look up to learn more? Also, it seems like something that should be taught in a history class Also, not everyone has the free time to look up random stuff. She may have other things that she looks up in her free time. Like I used to do research on animals in my free time. So, I wouldnt have had time to research this stuff. Nor did it interest me. But also, since there wasnt an animal class, I had to look stuff up like that on my own. This is something that, at the very least, should have been touch upon during history Especially American History

Note, these aren't presidental observances, those are federal holidays.

Almost no one gets MLK day, President's Day, Columbus Day or Veteran's Day off. I imagine this holiday will be the same.

Yeah you basically only get those days off if youre actually a federal employee. I agree, I doubt this will get treated like the 4th by most employers.

its mostly government workers and then some bank and office employees

but most Americans work retail or healthcare or service industries that are by and large open nearly every day of the year
