My place of work shuts down for one week during the 4th, and a week-plus-holidays during Christmas, and all employees get paid vacations during this time.

Im not really sure I think I get like 140-160 per year. But I take time over extra pay on holidays. So every holiday I get 10 hours. So right now I have 200 vacation, 300 sick hours accrued, and 100 bonus hours

I don't like that. I'd much rather have the option to stack my vacation hours and take a large vacation once every 2-3 years. Meanwhile, I'm fine with using some of my time off by taking 4 day weekends on weeks we have a day off (like labor day weekend).

Yups. I get 1.75 sick and vacation days (so 3.5 days or 28 hours total) vacation each month. I can save them for whenever and theyre basically interchangeable. The only difference is that one of them (I forget which) has a limit, but its so high Im unlikely to hit it anyway. God I love state benefits :3

Are police considered state workers where you live? I think here in Hawaii police and sheriffs are grouped together, but Im not sure if theyre state or city.

My place of work has no sick leave policy and if they want to pay you it's entirely up to the discretion of the board
they paid for over 2 weeks leave broken up due to a suicide attempt and also for a hospital stay

My office lets us carry over 1 week usually. Although last year with Covid they said we can carry an additional 2 weeks (for 3 weeks total.) Although this year I got an extra week for being here for 5 years.

Basically this year I have 3 weeks left I HAVE to use or I lose them.

It's to do with scams
Since if you're scamming the company, it's generally 1-2 weeks where someone will notice something is up
Like if you're doing payroll you're required to have someone else fill in for you and also take a week off.

God I hate America. Such a shit country. Wish we had PTO like Europe does it.

At both of the last two places I have worked, I get unlimited vacation. I think more and more corporations are adopting this
