I agree with Blazer btw that at this point I'm not even 100% sure a Switch Pro is going to happen given that the current models are still selling insanely well and we're almost certainly closing in on two years until the successor, if not already within that countdown.

I wish there was a new Switch model coming. A fair amount of Switch games Ive played run pretty poorly and even though Im no graphic/FPS nut its pretty obvious when the games start chugging :(

Maybe Switch Pro is the successor to Switch. Could be theyre doing something New 3DS-like where it will play all the current Switch stuff, but also have its own exclusives.

The Switch is going so well that it might not make sense to do something totally new any time soon.

Yeah I agree with this as well. I have zero personal interest in a Switch with some new hardware and would much rather they just focus on the next major console.

I'm surprised people think Kazuya was just chosen because he was the original main character when it was pretty clearly because of Tekken 7. The volcano scene is specifically from 7.

To be fair, the volcano thing isn't just from 7. That family has a long history of throwing each other off cliffs and into volcanos.

I'd say they picked him because they probably initially were gonna pick Heihachi and then switched to Kazuya because he's got the Devil transformation which could add to his moveset. Relevancy in 7 probably helped, but you could have said that for Heihachi, too, since he outright has the story/fights with Akuma in 7.

I mean, barely anything has been hinted about anything yet.

I will say about BotW2 taking so long to develop, is that its important to remember that Nintendo are a pretty good employer and dont often crunch their employees like some studios to get stuff out the door. I think their average work day is less than eight hours. So, it taking long is a good thing!

And with the Switch Pro, gotta remember the Switch isnt just their home console, its also their handheld now and they like to ride those for a lot longer. 3DS lasted nine years before they discontinued it and weve already had one new version of the Switch, so a Switch XL or whatever still seems likely in my eyes.

clearly the real reason he added kazuya is because he's rushing without thinking to fill the roster with more fighting game characters so he can get approval to upgrade akira to full character status now that virtua fighter is no longer a dead series

Yes, Heihachi throws Kazuya in a volcano at the end of Tekken 2 as well, but this was pretty clearly referencing when it was the other way around in 7 and not when Kazuya threw Heihachi off a cliff in 1.

Well, right. Im just saying I think that was a convenient thing for them to reference in the video more so than having any weight on the decision itself, since Kazuya isnt really all that more featured in 7 or anything than Heihachi is. I think Devil is what tipped it in his favor since they seem to love gimmicks with the dlc, and Heihachi doesnt have anything like that.

As for the games, BotW2 looks awesome (it seems heavily influenced by TP and SS - just give us a massive ocean and we have our trifecta), but the fact that they're "hoping" for a 2022 release suggests Holiday 2022 is our best case scenario. That's 1.5 years away and 5.5 years after BotW. It's clear Covid delayed major game development by a solid year across the industry.

I feel like their hardware pipeline must be underutilized at this point, unless they've scaled back. New Switch just doesn't feel necessary this year though, I agree with that. Looking at 2021 games, there's really no reason for a Switch Pro. Nintendo hardware is always so compelling (either way!) so it's fun to think about what they'll do.

Botw2 does look cool from what they have been able to show us. I wonder at what point was Sky World in their design.

That's about 30 more than Nocturne, don't know the count in IV and Apocalypse though.

I didn't realize Nocturne had so few, but I haven't played it yet. Strange Journey had over 300, with IV and Apocalypse having over 400 and over 450.

But yeah, I get it being fewer. It's not a Dexit situation, they actually did have to create new HD models and/or animations for most/all of them, and they don't have Pokemon money to throw around to do it. I think it's been suggested that each demon has a unique attack, too.
