I can see Sweden getting a draw tonight. Although you never really know what you're gonna get with Sweden.

Spain is also a big if. The squad is in a weird place, their captain didn't participate due to injury and the next captain tested positive for coronavirus and is sidelined for at least this match. Potential is there, but consistency has not been.

Half and half. Slightly more connection to Wales cause that's where I've mostly lived and been involved with football but I would consider myself Polish as well.

Poland at times remind me of pre-Southgate England but for that second tier of Euro nations.
Lots of talent with names that show up across a number of good teams as more than just squad players.

But they don't seem to play as well as they should.
Even if they pull a result here, it's not been the most convincing display.

Honestly I think we're oddly overrated by people, probably because they see Lewa and Szczesny and think "wow they have good players!" but our squad just isn't very well balanced, our defence is plain bad, and we lack pace so badly. I don't think we've been better than average in my lifetime and once Lewa goes (probably after the WC) I expect us to stop even qualifying regularly.

But over the years you see Piatek, Glik, Milik, Zielinski, Kuba, Krychowiak, Grosicki, like they've all had a good run at one point or another.
Just not all at the same time, even then this Slovakian side drew against Cyprus/Malta.
Hamsik who bossed first half is wrapping up his career in Sweden.

Like even if Poland's overrated, this is still a clear upset,

Half of those weren't even in the squad today, so I'm not sure what relevance they have. It's like using Xavi and Iniesta to cite why Spain should be beating Sweden. Glik is old now and honestly I don't rate Krychowiak all that highly. I don't think this result came as a surprise to any Polish supporters or anyone who has watched us recently. Maybe it's an upset on paper but even then it's not a huge one. Regardless, I think we should have done better over the years when we did have a good squad, but I think those days are gone and we just aren't very good anymore.

I think Hamsik went to Sweden specifically to prep for this tournament as opposed to just cashing in China.

ah that's a fair enough assessment one some level tbh although a lot of players have not replicated their club form for us (I still think Fabianski should stay our first choice, and Krychowiak is just a fucking idiot). However, I also think most other nations pick better coaches and have a better pool of talent more suited to building a team as well as some actual characters, rather than a squad full of slow old men who are too scared to try anything except passing to Lewa. The only reason we qualify for anything is him. Apologies if I was a little hostile in my first response, I'm annoyed because we're shit and also because commentators and pundits keep calling it a shock or calling us dark horses when we have been embarrassing garbage in almost every tournament in my lifetime.

Gerard Moreno should absolutely be favored ahead of Morata next game. Spain can perhaps get a bit more dangerous if they get a few things working. The Alba/Pedri combinations have promise.

Not to take anything away from Sweden, they played a really good game. Special kudos to Olsen for many good saves.
