literally the only thing I cared about e3 was that I used to watch the big names conferences every year with a friend that passed away this year and we would laugh at them

it's always nice seeing what games will be coming out over the next few years, but I haven't really followed e3 in 10 years or so. Now just my reddit frontpage gets blasted with trailers and i go, "oh must be some conference going on today, guess it's e3/gdc/video game awards this time". As a kid it would have been awesome to go to one and something i had wanted to do, now unless someone offered an all expenses paid trip then i'd turn it down. And then i'd be taking it more for the free trip to LA then the e3 bits.

I stopped caring when most of the trailers stopped showing any actual gameplay footage. Even worse when it was for a hyped game that they announced ages ago, and had a fancy high res trailer for.

Then there's bs like what cyberpunk did. "Yes we announced the game 6 years ago and have had 3 different teaser trailers. Actual gameplay? Nah, here's the celebrity we put into the game as advertising!"

And of course, it seems every other year now we have a big issue where some company is like "yes it's a console exclusive game, yes the tech demo we showed was on a top of the line PC."

I wasn't enthused about E3 2020 because there were reports it was going to be an influencer shitfit in the wake of CDPR getting that massive reaction to Keanu Reeves.

But then COVID hit.

I hope they've moved away from that direction, and they're down to give us the E3 presentation we're used to. Because idk about you guys, but I could really use some of that right now.

I haven't cared since G4 was first around. Before, it was so flashy and expensive.

The publishers realized that the expense just wasn't worth it for the booths and cut that shit out.

I get it but it killed my interest. I just look at the stuff that IGN puts on their YouTube channel now.

Because it's all hype and marketing? It's like if Fox News had a gaming news segment: you're not getting all the details and they will deliberately try to mislead you.

Not to mention that many of the games are simply not worth dropping $60 on.

Surprisingly, I do. There's a few upcoming games we know nothing about that are long overdue for details, so I'm hoping we may see a few interesting things. The fact there haven't been any other shows due to COVID adds a little faith they may have been saving up some things, too.

I believe they've already said that Silksong won't be at E3 - a shame, as otherwise it would be the game I was most excited to see there.
