Vaccination first.

If Jeff Bezos stepped up and footed the bill for vaccine passports, I could go along with it. If Illinois pays for it, then the money for the privileged to have passports is taken from the unprivileged having access to vaccine.

I am in favor of the US passport being used as a vaccine passport. This makes sense because you need proof of vaccination to travel internationally and it makes sense because the passport office can pass the cost to the holder of the passport.

Why now? Hopefully it's not some agenda. Don't want to see a trend of: first it was facemasks to go somewhere...now it's becoming vaccine ID cards to go somewhere... next... microchip ID if you want to go somewhere? Are we being conditioned? Maybe.

lmao why

We're talking about a virus that has a death rate of, what, 1.25% or so? Why restrict people's freedoms for that? If people want to get the vaccine to protect themselves, do it (especially if they are in the high risk category of old age, obesity, or have a pre-existing condition). Others who don't want to shouldn't have their freedom to move about the country taken away.

If we were dealing with a far more serious virus with a death rate of something like 40% or even 15% I'd be much more open to vaccine passports/IDs being a thing.

Now give me your take on why you favor a vaccine passport.

you have a problem with a private business establishing guidelines for its customers? it sounds like you want the government to regulate this aspect of the market to prevent businesses from requiring a vaccine? really surprised to see people who typically advocate for a free market being against the free market here.

Should this be applied to each and every pandemic we will face? They're not all equal.

Do you think we should not trust the United States Government and CDC, forevermore, because of what they did from 1932 - 1972 during the Tuskegee Syphilis Study where they literally murdered people?

Point is, if they're going to enforce compulsory vaccination laws forevermore then why wouldn't we remain untrustworthy towards our government and the CDC forevermore because of what they did in the past?

Totally agree. If we were facing a virus with a higher death rate then I would definitely give up some freedoms until we can crack down on how to handle it and beat it. Not gonna' cry about freedom being taken away if we were facing an airborne virus that kills 50% of who it infects!

Its a question of health information being protected. The schools asking for vaccine info is at least covered by FERPA (family educational rights and privacy act).

Then maybe that shit should be reevaluated and possibly changed, because yes, if you can't travel because you're not vaccinated against a virus with a 1.25% death rate then your freedom to go where you please is being taken away.

If 1.25% is enough for you to feel this is okay, then were do you personally draw the line? Would you still be pro-vaccine passport if the death rate was as low as 0.90%? 0.25%?

I'll also add that 1.25% in addition to being incorrect, is what you could expect the rate could be in a relatively stable environment.

If you remove proper/extensive care for patients then the death rate shoots up quite a bit.
