The most ridiculous thing is driving by fast food joints right after working hours. There is literally cars lined up around the block at some places with dudes that are in their car by themselves. Like to the point where you aren't even saving time anymore because you had to drive somewhere and sit in line for 30 minutes, then go home.

I know a few that are like this and they'll boast about it like they think it's an attractive quality, it's actually sad.

Whats even worse is guys buying pre-seasoned or pre-made meat or meals and just chuck it into the oven and call it a day and maybe even take some photos of what they just cooked

I cook stuff in bulk. Very rarely do I not have varying amounts of grilled chicken tenders, taco meat, some kind of pasta, and rice in my fridge. All I need to make for an individual meal is a veggie side, and that takes 20 minutes at the most.

The luxury of the single life, I suppose.

This too. My father and my father's father couldn't cook a meal to save their lives, so presenting it as something a "grown man" needs to do is very weird.

Imagine being a grown man and not owning a hunting rifle to shoot down your own meat and not knowing how to skin and dress it, so sad how far we've relied on big food.

Some responsibility has to be held to the parent/guardian for not teaching these men to cook in the first place. I understand at some point they are grown enough to take initiative. However if you never had to cook growing up isnt it going to be easier to just eat out and get freezer meals?

I mean. What constitutes knowing how to cook?

Like, I can cook ground beef, chicken, pasta, and rice. If I wanted to. But thats probably the extent of it.

Ive cooked frozen shrimp and mushrooms before, but only once. Typically stuff like that you can just cook impromptu with online aid.

But I only cook and eat pasta tbh, since I live alone.

I cant cook fancy stuff, but I also dont like fancy stuff compared to basic food. So I dont.

If you want tacos, I can make it, but I dont have that in my personal lineup.

I cant grill either.

Give me a pan, a pot, a spatula, and a serving spoon and I can cook most basics. You can probably get it for under $20. Once you have that you have the capability to cook most recipes, just follow the recipe.

There's a huge proportion of the world who very proud of their inability to follow directions.

Can't follow a recipe.
Can't build furniture.
Can't do their taxes.
And so on.

All step by step processes that are very well documented, but if one step or tool doesn't immediately make sense to them, they just shut down completely.

I respect artists. But I'm sure all the artists I respect can generally follow directions on how to mix paint or install Photoshop, to use two completely opposite examples.

If you choose to not learn a basic skill of survival, you deserve ridicule. So yes, you hit the nail on the head. No one is talking about learning how to perfectly grill filet mignon, were talking about people that can't boil fucking pasta or fry an egg. The steps for those things are literally heat pan/put thing in pan/take thing out of pan.
