I really hope we get to the point where we at least get 60% of people fully vaccinated, but I'm losing hope, lol. Israel is at 56.6% and they had a whole 28 covid cases yesterday.

Yeah, but if you wear a mask an are super responsible you can reduce your chance of getting COVID to very low.

Don't get me wrong, I still thought the safer option was getting the vaccine because yes COVID is definitely bad, and vaccine is very likely safe even in long term, but it's just not as much of a slam dunk as some of you think. It's only authorized because of the emergency use authorization.

I'm not saying that the mRNA part is the dangerous part if there is any. I'm saying there is a non-trivial risk in the long term because for these specific vaccines we simply do not have long term data.

And if everybody who has been responsible enough to not get covid up until now was somehow destined to get it in the next month I'd be just as vocal as everybody else I see to demand people get vaccinated ASAP.

But if you wear a mask and practice all the same precautions you have been up until now I don't think it's unreasonable to wait a little bit longer until it's FDA approved or whatever.

Are you under the impression that emergency authorization has absolutely no testing behind it? Besides, things can be proven safe and turn out to hurt people 20 years down the line. Literally anything can potentially happen to everything. Unless we're all going to abandon society live off the grid, we'll go insane if we don't make assumptions. You can't worry about baseless hypotheticals.

you can say this about any vaccine. Vaccines can cause side effects, they can cause permanent damage. They can even cause deadly adverse reactions.

the reason why vaccines are pushed and are important is because the reward greatly outweighs the risk.

we dont even know what the long term effect of this particular strain of covid is.

and take it from me, its been a year since I had it and my sense of taste and smell still has not returned to normal.

the hundreds of severe side effects that occur over the hundreds of millions of doses is the same argument people use to claim covid isnt serious.

vaccines are bad cause you have a less than 1% chance of getting a severe reaction, but covid is OK cause you have a less than 1% chance of dying?

People act like it's a comparison between the potential dangers of the vaccine vs the dangers of covid.

But it's a comparison between the potential dangers of the vaccine and the dangers of covid times how likely you are to get it.

I don't like this idea that all vaccines are created equal too. Just because it's called "vaccine" doesn't make it as safe an as tested as vaccines that have been around for more than 1 year.

I don't know why people argue with me, I agreed that the benefit outweighs the risks, I just don't think the skeptical people are human scum going to get covid tomorrow for their ignorance.

Now, if you are worried about the vaccine but not at all worried about covid, then you are dumb. There is no intellectually honest way to think catching covid is "no big deal" and also think the vaccines are dangerous.

Just from knowing how humans work? Do you think that religious groups that try converting gay people to being straight have any success? Or girls that stay with abusive boyfriends because they're sure this time they can change him? This mindset and personality of his that led him to these conclusions and beliefs aren't a recent thing, he's had this mindset and personality his whole life. Like when you hear stories from people who knew murderers, and what they were like beforehand. "Oh, when they were a kid, they were horribly physically abusive" or "They tried to kill me" and then years later, down the line, they end up actually going through with it. All of these examples because people don't change. Not that drastically, anyway. Hoping he'll eventually come around and see the error of his ways and realizing how dumb he had been is asking for him to be an entirely different person. It's asking for the impossible.

Most people on CE disagree with giving up on people like that:

Which isn't to say people should stay in abusive relationships, but that if you are able, you are generally better off never treating anybody like a lost cause of a human.

This dumb ass shit where people who are fully vaccinated, and fully vaccinated their kids, are called anti-vaxxers because they want to WAIT and get it after it goes thru the proper trials, and gets proper FDA approval is fucking hilarious to me.

No one gets to decide what happens with another persons body, not even to save a life. You need written permission from a corpse before life saving organs can be taken from them. You cannot be forced to donate blood, no matter how dire the situation. And no one else should get to decide what a woman does with her body, when it comes to abortion, and nobody gets to decide whether or not me or my daughter has to take an unapproved experimental mRNA vaccine.

I want natural immunity anyways, because supposedly natural immunity has a 50% chance of lasting your entire lifetime, whereas people getting the vaccine will be expected to continue getting a booster once or twice a year, for the rest of their lives...?

So, anyone who wants to take the vaccine should go for it. Just know that youre part of the testing phase stillthe testing phase for the long term effects. Thats your choice though, and your choice should be respected. Return that same respect when someone says theyre going to pass on it. You dont know their reasons, and tbhits none of anyones fucking business anyways.

Nobody knows how long natural immunity or immunity from the vaccine lasts yet. Then there's the part where you don't know how covid will affect you once you get it. Millions of people in the US have been hospitalized from it, many of them suffering long term effects. Not to mention Over 600,000 people in the US have died from it.

I got covid in late December and I was sick for a whole month. I couldn't work for 2 weeks and just dealt with it for the rest of the way. I'm fortunate that I don't have any noticeable long term side effects from covid, but I chose to get vaccinated any way to have better protection against other variants.

That's some shitty strawmanning. Oo Plus it overlooks that he had a valid point, there very well may be long-term effects. And while catching COVID can be worse in some cases, testing in NY revealed that a lot of people who previously had COVID never even realized they did and not everybody was going to get COVID anyway. While the vaccine is likely a net positive for society, it's not necessarily a benefit on an individual basis especially given some of the vaccine fatalities have been in groups most likely to survive catching COVID.

Hey, again, thats your choice to make and I dont have any issue with that.

Unfortunately for whatever reason (lol jk, we know the reason) pretty much every treatment regimen for COVID has been politicized.

There are treatments that, according to data over the last year that was recorded, supposedly have nearly a 100% effectiveness against COVID, literally turning patients 180 from very ill, to no symptoms at all.

These treatment regimens are being suppressed though because they are existing medications being repurposed to work on COVID, meaning the patent has expired, and there is no profit to be made. Money is what it really boils down to.
