Yesterday I had the technical interview and panel interview with the directors. All I have left today is an hour-long medical interview with a doctor. Then I should hear back about a potential offer within a week!

I'm so fucking tired of interviewing. I'm good at them, but jesus fuck do they take a lot of energy.

How many rounds of interviews? My current company made me do 8.
Holy Shit. That's fucking wild. Technically just two. One with HR and this "round" which included an what I said above totaling a bit over 3 hours. I also talked to a former manager of mine who left my company to take a director role about the position for about an hour.

What kind of position did you need to do EIGHT rounds for? I hope you're getting the big bucks!

Yeah, 8 is stupid. It was for a Finance Manager position but I liked the company. I got an offer for Finance Manager at another place and that was only like 3 interviews.
Don't leave me hanging, man! How big are the bucks?

I think I fucking KILLED the interview. It went so well I felt really knowledgeable on coronary artery disease, diabetes, strokes, different cancers.

I practically feel like a doctor.

Yeah I had an interview with a doctor where he basically quizzed me on different medical conditions and their associated mortality risks.

IF I get the job, my current place is going to pay out my remaining PTO, which will be about $7k before taxes. I'm going to spend all of it and a bit more on my yard. It's going to get de-weeded (I have basically no actual grass and a lot of really tough invasive weeds), then it's going to get sodded and some parts re-seeded. I made a big mess of it last year when I built a new retaining wall by myself with a friend. It's really an eyesore now. Oh and I'm going to get a vinyl fence put in.

And I should get my wife something nice. After that, I'm going to be saving up for daycare.

Gah now comes the shitty part of waiting for an offer or rejection. And since it's a holiday weekend coming up, i assume it's going to take a while for any decisions to be made

How do you get $7k in PTO time? o.O

I need to do that with my yard. How do you go about it?

I get something like 21 days a year in PTO, and I can rollover half year to year. So last year I rolled over as much as I could since I had a newborn in march of this year. So I have something like 25 days left, and my company pays it out fully as if you just worked that whole time.

And I'm hiring a landscaping team to do that for my yard. I did the wall myself last year though!

this is vinyl fencing. It lasts longer and takes less maintenance than wood fencing. The big drawback is that it's more expensive than wood fencing, but since lumber costs are so high right now, might as well get the good shit.

Nice. Yeah my job pays out unused PTO but it's at the discretion of the executive director and I just don't imagine him approving that so I always use mine

Interesting. Thanks for the info. We moved to a new house last year. It's awesome. I had a new wood privacy fence put up in the back yard. $4k for lumber and installation!

It seems this is done so the recruiters can tell an out of touch manager how much work they are doing and ask for a raise.

yeah the basic half-hour chat with HR where they fill you in on the basics of the gig becomes mind-numbing after like 2 of them.

this seems exceedingly cynical. But I eight rounds is also absurd, so idk
