Nothing wrong with beach scenes in general! Persona 4 and 5 did it pretty well.

The fanservice is fine too, I'm just beyond done with the whole "Lloyd being oblivious to all the girls wanting him and saying something that gets him in trouble" deal. Also the sunblock. There's 3 girls there they can put sunblock on each other!

The main thing making the harem stuff in CS worse is how many games it stretches across. Having choose your waifu stretching across so many story-focused titles does not work, and it'd be nice if Falcom realized that at some point.

I mean it's pretty clear who the devs think is the main love interest in Cold Steel too but it doesn't stop them

the issue with CS is that most of the characters don't interact much with each other aside from specific fights. the bonding system and increasing quasi dating sim nonsense means it's all Rean all the time baby, and having parties that seem to have genuine bonds aside from with the MC takes a backseat. it's the issues that MZero was complaining about at the beach except it's the whole game

Theme Park was much better than the beach. I chose Randy, Wazy, and Elie for most of the attractions, although I also went on that monster coaster thing with the girl from the theater that robbed Ilya's house before (not sure what her name is in English)

Campanella has been in like 4 games now and basically all I know about his motives is "it's fun"

Also I spoiled that Mariabell is part of Ourboros which is why I don't google character's English names anymore >_> but I don't know if that's a secret or hasn't happened yet

Strongly disagree! Cheesy action scenes are at least pretty hype even if they're silly, unlike the sunscreen nonsense which was just ugh

Also, it was an optional sidequest. Sunscreen was required (I would know because I tried to reject them several times to no avail) which makes it worse by default!

Hijacking this thread to say I started cold steel yesterday. I got up to the part where you're leaving on a train to visit some town on a field study. This definitely seems way more anime then the past trails games so far, I'm glad Alisa apologized to Rean right before I quit so hopefully this tsundere shit can end right now. But the cast seems pretty cool sans the orange haired kid who I hope dies immediately. Why Japan is so obsessed with meek girlish looking boys who are scared all the time is beyond me

Also you don't unlock Artes through quartz combinations anymore bothers me, if you have to put in individual quartz to get an arte it's definitely going to be a lot more limited in the number of Artes you can field compared to normal. But I guess you have 9 party members you can switch between (assuming that's how the game will develop at least) actively in battle so you can really specialize people in certain niches. But I'm wondering what the point of sectioning off the quartz grid is now if that is removed?

Also I had to fight some shitty dinosaur as a required monster quest for the first field mission, and it had no resistance to petrify so I just cast one earth spell on it and it was petrified and I won the fight immediately. nice boss

I cleared through the first field study. That masked dude that came out at the end was just so genericly evil that it made me laugh. Trails can be pretty hit or miss with their villains but we'll see where this goes

The whole way the franchise is set up that each region has some bracer-like organization being established makes me wonder if there's something more to the overarching plot regarding that. It would be pretty cool if there was a high level plot across the world to develop these organizations and it's not just all a coincidence.

Also I loved Claire's design. I wish she were playable hopefully by cs4 they'll drop her in the menagerie like they just threw everyone you've ever met in your party in sky3.
