I might try HelloFresh since I know a few youtubers with codes for it. But not until I move. I was going to try Blue Apron some years ago, but it didnt deliver to my area. I havent checked since then. Maybe they expanded...

Never done any - it always seems like too much money to pay for something I can relatively easily do myself, especially when my own fussiness/allergies means I'd probably hate half the recipes they offer (and seafood in general is RIGHT OUT). I already do all of the shopping and most of the cooking in my house, so I'm used to having a level of control/putting the work in.

If I was lazier or more strapped for time I might be willing to go with a plan, but even then I'm not sure which one would have the best chance of being worth the money for me. There's actually a local service near me that caters (supposedly) healthier fitness-based meals, doing prep and delivery fresh, but at that point it mostly just feels like getting take-out in general (and I've got lots of local places for that).

I heard some of them are pretty good. Like they allowed you to choose types of meals to not send (so no to seafood), and take allergies into account. They even have vegan meals and stuff. The price can probably be a little high, but I hear some will send ingredients and recipes cards with them. That way, you can go buy the ingredients yourself next time. For some people, its a good way to help learn how to cook new things, or just get new recipes to use later. Others like it because they can use those instead of shopping as much (going out to the store). Especially if they dont have time to. Some use it for a fun family or date night once a week... I wouldn mind at least trying them. But I can also understand why some people may not like it...

That said, a lot of what I said up there applies to certain ones. Not all of them are the same, AFAIK... The only two I have a good amount of info on are the two I mentioned (Blue Apron & HelloFresh)...

I always thought these things were kind of dumb. I mean, if you still have to cook the food yourself, would it be that much more work to buy the ingredients yourself?

I suppose the one big advantage is that they pick the meals for you. The most difficult thing for me has always been figuring out what I want to make. (And when you have as many cookbooks as I do, that just makes things harder, not easier.)

Depends. Some can help with ingredients, and you dont have to go out to buy it. And I think some take you tastes to help you buy sending you recipes they think youll like. They also send exact portions, I think... Which is nice. Like I use a site to get new recipes. But I think those meal plans are bet the r at helping me find new recipes. Or would be...
