No. Those are hideous.

And that's hilarious! Men are giving up on marriage b/c w/ hook up culture there's almost no women left worth marrying anyway (plus women initiate like 3/4 of divorces and can take more than half your shit between alimony and "child support"), so I guess now in order to stay in business the jewelry companies are hoping to change the cultural paradigm by having the women pop the question.

A woman could always propose to a man this is so lame. And marriage was in trouble long before internet hookup culture was a thing. It hasn't been fit for purpose since the 1980s where a lot more women went out to work instead of hanging onto some man.

Eh...people can spend their money or show their commitment however they want. I doubt these are in the price range I'd care for.

So will he wear his engagement ring with his wedding ring after marriage like women do?

I don't wear my rings because I kept getting them caught on stuff and having to have them repaired so they are just sitting in a jewelry box.

How fancy your ring or wedding is has very little bearing on how good your marriage will be anyway.

As an idea, sure. I don't just mean for gay men or bisexuals, either, but also those cases where the woman proposes to the man. As a practice? Those bands and their gems are more hideous than most sports or class rings, so I feel they need a serious redesign with someone at the helm or in consulting that can provide something better-looking.

Yeah, that is pretty much the way I look at. Once women starter earning an income they were able to deal with reprocussions of divorce much more easily. Plus there is less shame nowadays anyways. I mean, half of all marriages end up in divorce so that is not really good odds to start

Although, I doubt women proposing to men will be too much of a thing. Men are still very much expected to be the leaders in the relationship and it would come across as very odd if a woman proposes. It kind of seems a bit clingy and desperate to me especially if it is a formal proposal with a ring and everything, instead of a "yeah, we should get married" type of deal.

To be fair though, I am not too much of a big fan of the way proposals generally work to begin with. I mean, it kind of sucks to be putting a person on the spot like that. It feels more like a high pressure sales move more than a legit romantic thing to me. It is an important choice that should be contemplated and not guilt tripped into

They're kinda cool-looking rings and I'm all for equality, but I can't imagine a circumstance where that might work unless I found a super-rich heiress or something which is the only time I wouldn't have to worry about getting completely screwed in a divorce.

It's not that it never happens (in fact, I remember a YT video of where a girl proposes to her fratbro boyfriend with her grandmother's ring only for him to knock it out of her hands and she gets pissed because it was her grandmother's ring), it's just that it's rare. Plus keep in mind you're outside the US so that's another degree of difference.

Because they're more masculine rings. Guys aren't going to wear thin, round bands. That's more of a female thing.

I can agree with this to an extent. Proposals come in all shapes and sizes though. I would easily take being proposed in an intimate setting, like where we had our first date, over a huge display in front of friends and family.

I'm only one person though, and some people prefer it the other way around. I agree there are definitely proposals that can feel like traps or sales pitches, but there are tons of different ways to do it.

I prefer a more intimate proposal too. Discussed with my bf the issue of proposing with the ring, and like the idea of having like a stand in ring for the proposal then shopping for an actual one together after. I know a bunch of people who did that, or just shopped for the ring beforehand then left the specifics of a proposal a surprise (that's what we did with my first proposal lel). Everyone I know knew a proposal was coming, not a huge surprise.
