Unemployment rates are back to where they were two years ago. My employer and my girlfriend's employer have had issues filling open spots going back to 2018. Her employer starts people at double the minimum wage. I haven't seen any closed restaurants in my area besides places voluntarily shutting down because their rents went up.

Probably not overblown - I've seen alot of local news stories of places having to cut hours because of lack of labor as well as seen car dealerships advertising job openings on tv instead of advertising the cars themselves.

There's always a bit of lag between a general demand increase and stabilizing staff numbers. This is just exacerbated by everyone being stuck home for a year.

Nah, it's pretty shitty. Normally even without posting for help wanted, I'd be getting at least 3-5 inquires per week if we're hiring this time of year, but now we're not even reaching that amount while actively seeking help. Though our second office north of us is having much better luck, so I'd assume this is a county by county, state by state issue.

This.

And good. I'm tired of corporations taking advantage of me by banking on their employees needing EBT and other welfare which I'm subsiding for them.
