I loved it. Only seen it once so far but it was a wild ride

i only understood about 80% of it, and I had to rewind half the scenes to understand anything but it was great.

will be a really fun rewatch

Was it just me or was the guy in the lead role not that great of a dramatic actor? There were a few scenes where Pattinson was really great but Washington just sounded like he was flatly reading from a script

I'm not sure he was trying to be dramatic. He was the stoic badass lead and did that just fine. Not everybody has to be Tom Cruise. The movie was good I loved the soundtrack. I wasn't confused either once I understood the first main inversion. The confusing bit came when it first started (when the bad guy kidnapped his wife and tried to kill her). He started inversion then all these troops came outta nowhere to his hideout and I was like wtf just happened. I watched over that part like 4 times. The troop leader then explained the situation and the mc inverted shortly after. It became easy to follow after that he was just going backwards to the start of the plot.

Yeah that was my point. The characters name is literally the protagonist but nah lets just ignore that because this is Christopher Nolans epic starring Robert Pattinson.

Brb just gonna watch Men in Black the comedy sci-fi classic starring Tommy Lee Jones

It was boring enough I stopped about 30 mins in.

Luckily I switched to Greenland which was actually good.

Not really comparable, and it feels like you're trying to make something racist out of something that probably isn't.

TV listings often list stars in order of fame, not necessarily in order of importance in the work, because they're trying to entice the audience to watch, and "A-List Actorman" is going to lure in more viewers than "Dude You've Never Heard Of". And like it or not, John David Washington is kind of a nobody to most people (his dad would be far more likely to get top billing). At least compared to "Guy Who Was In Harry Potter, Twilight, and who was recently cast as Batman".

Just be glad they didn't give Michael Caine or Kenneth Branagh top billing over both.

It's similar to how DVD releases of older films will put the names of major celebrities front-and-center on the box cover, even if those celebs were mostly nobodies when the film was made, and they barely had cameos. Like Tom Hanks being about the fourth most important character in Mazes and Monsters, yet pretty much the only name you'll see on the cover these days. Or how my copy of Midnight Madness has Michael J Fox listed as the main star when he's like the 20th person down in terms of importance (and it was literally his first film role ever).

If anything, if you're going to use Will Smith in your analogy, it'd be more accurate to point to After Earth - where Jaden Smith is pretty blatantly meant to be the main character and Will Smith still gets top billing because no one gives a shit about Jaden.

Tenet sucks. All of its ideas are cool but they don't pay off in a way that makes the movie an interesting end product. Plus its a ton of horrible audio mixing of dialogue that isn't interesting in between action that mostly is just "Ah...that's kinda cool, I guess"
