I watched this movie all the time as a kid. It was great. Why has it been forgotten?

I think you're right, and there is a moment where there is a building in the background and there is a woman's boobs in one of the windows. I don't recall if it was this movie specifically, but one with cartoon mice totally had a naked woman in the deep background.

It think it's only found in the original versions, vhs, and that's it iirc. They omitted them on later re-releases.

It was a box office failure. It had the unfortunate luck of coming out the same time as Home Alone, Edward Scissorhands and Rocky V. Disney avoided releasing sequels in theaters for awhile because it's performance was so bad.

Parents chose Home Alone to take their children to see, which honestly is the right choice here. Then they went to see the other ones because Edward Scissorhands is also awesome and at the time they hadn't realized Rocky V was horrible.

The naked portrait is the original Rescuers, not Rescuers Down Under

I remember watching it as a 5-year-old kid and being blown away by the graphics in the opening credits. Something completely different from the older Disney classics I'd watched before like Pinocchio, 101 Dalmatians, etc.

I searched my memory and... yeah, I can't refute this, at least for the moment. The original Rescuers was... not bad, per se, but it exuded this weirdly depressing air and the villain was hideous(and not in an acceptable way; something makes me cringe at the sight of her).

Or maybe it's just nostalgia glasses speaking 'cause I didn't really watch Rescuers until five years after I first watched Down Under lol

Rescue rangers?

Completely different thing.

The naked titties was in the first movie. I think its only one frame and you have to squint to find it in the background. But youd have to find an old version of the movie where it wasnt removed.

I also agree that Rescuers Down Under is better than the first. Rescuers is decent but there's a lot of dead air in the movie. I remember noticing there wasn't a lot of music in the first movie.

Rescuers Down Under had a lot more memorable moments for me. The opening alone is forever etched into my memory. The villain's truck was super dope. The giant eagle was memorable as well. It's an all around good movie.

Rescuers Down Under was after Little Mermaid though.

Though production on it was started by the "old guard" at Disney during that time after they finished Oliver and Company, it just happened to come out after the first Disney Renaissance movie came out.

I too watched the original on VHS a lot as a kid. The opening is pretty unforgettable.
