Then I didn't watch the other two.

Then the Comedy Central seasons sucked.

Yes, I remember them being mediocre and bleh.

Then I remember a series being restarted that should have stayed dead.

The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings was the perfect series finale for the show. Continuing after kind of ruined multiple aspects of the original series, and there wasn't a single new episode that justified the continuation. The new series was less funny, less interesting, and a lot of it was just rehashing things that had already been done.

Going on long after a show should have been cancelled seems to be Matt Groening's thing, though. So maybe it was destiny.

But yeah, post season 6 became less consistent. There were gems for sure but overall less funny.

The only good episode from post season 6 was The Late Philip J. Fry. That was the only one that even came close to being as good as the original series. Every other episode that people like from the CC era (namely the Hermes/Bender episode and the Fry's Mom episode) were just trying too hard to be the next Luck of the Fryish/Jurassic Bark.

It really was. Devil's Hands was a great episode but an awful finale to the series.

Really the movies were the lowest point in the series. IIRC some of the streaming services have them split up and listed as "seasons"
