I was rather fond of the earlier version, "Secret life of machines".

Not seen it in a while now. Did they ever change narrators? The one I heard was really good.

This. I still remember some of those segments 30+ years later.

I like this show because I had no idea how some things are made and when I watch
"How It's Made", I am amazed at how some things are made.

It is localized differently; Canada has had four, American two, (though some broadcasts kept the original Canadian and provided subtitles) and the UK has had one.

From Wikipedia:

The show has different narrators for different regions.
In the Canadian version, it features Mark Tewksbury (Season 1, 2001) as the host of the show. Lynn Herzeg (Seasons 24, 20022004), June Wallack (Season 5, 2005) and Lynne Adams (Season 6 onwards, 2006present) are the narrators.
In the U.S. version, Brooks Moore and Zac Fine (Season 910, 20072008) are the narrators.
In the United Kingdom, the rest of Europe, and in some cases in Southeast Asia, the series is narrated by Tony Hirst.
