This is some really terrible stand up.

Humans need bees. Bees don't need humans. Well, technically, they need us to stop using pesticides that kill them and destroying the environment in general, but we need that also.

At one job, during this season, the restaurant has a bumblebee that guards the back door from other flying insects. It's weird because the bee just hovers outside the screen door but it's cool because it prevents other bugs from trying to fly in.

if its a fat fuzzy bee doing the guarding then its a male carpenter bee. Theyre quite dumb and will even try to mate with some of those other insects in the vicinity. The female on the other hand is busy burrowing deep into nearby wooden structures and weakening the stability of the establishment.

I have seen the same type of bee guarding utility poles and your explanation makes sense. Many of those poles are very holey
