No idea what can be done about the border but the fact is we have Americans who are in dire need and we have people from countries with no hope because those places have no economy thus there are no jobs or safety nets in place.

On the flip side, employers in America welcome these people because they'll work 6 or 7 days per week sans benefits, works, pay raises, etc and to employers looking to skirt around organized labor in America, that's a win-win.

To be fair, back then it was more about enslaving those populations, or just outright killing them so you could take their land and natural resources.
