Just stick your finger.... well, not UP there, just rub the rim - if it's prolapsed you'd feel a little 'ball' sticking out of the edge of the rim. Ifnot, it's probably a fissure. If it's a fissure, you'd want a topical ointment and a stool softener. If it's prolapsed, you'd need Preparation H --- "Salt cures Everything!"
