5) Oatmeal- I think like 1/2 cup of oatmeal with water is 150 calories, but who the **** eats 1/2 cup of bland oatmeal? You are probably eating 2 cups, with milk, fruit, peanut butter, and bull **** and now you are at 700 calories easily and still hungry :)

4) Dried Fruit- Stop eating this **** please, eat real fruit

3) Trail Mix/anything with nuts- High Calorie dense foods that you don't ******* need, stop it.

2) Oils/natural butters- I see people just drowse their food in olive oil because it's whole food nah nah nah nah nah. Get the cheap ass spray oil/butter with 0 calories and you will live.

1) Peanut Butter- I will never understand this, just get the PB2 powdered **** and save a ton of calories. Jiff peanut butter tastes like **** anyway lol.

same thing for your post, what are you eating the rest of the day? Are you working out a lot? What's the measurement of oatmeal you are using? I mean I have a 300-400 calorie oatmeal setup, but most people I know that are eating oatmeal are just loading it up with not almond milk lol.

you asserted that those 5 foods will "keep you fat". im challenging that assertion by saying i eat 2/5 of those foods on a daily basis and im not fat at all. so clearly your initial assertion is lacking some qualifier(s).

i dont work out at all aside from walking for 30m daily and playing disc golf 4-5 times a week.

My Oatmeal set up is around 500-550 calories with like just under 50g of Protein.

I also have a fruit smoothie with it that comes in at around 100 calories

I can easily avoid eating for 5-6 hours afterwards if I really need to.

Where do you get your nutritional information?

I mean that's why I placed it number 5 on the list because you can eat oatmeal and make it more fitting, but there are wayyyy better and more tastier options. In addition, the average joe without any knowledge in how calories work might just see oatmeal and load it up(2-3 cups worth because 1/2 cup is tiny) with milk, peanut butter, bananas, sugar, and etc and think it is beneficial.

sure, but that's like saying salad is unhealthy because people who don;t know better can/will load it up with fried chicken, bacon, croutons and ranch dressing. doesn't mean salad is inherently unhealthy

Based on your logic the 1 cup of Coco-Puffs is better for you than the 0.5 cup of oatmeal because they both are 150 calories.
But you do know that not all calories are equal right?
But this sounds like a rant from the mom who wants to sue the grocery store because a kid had a peanut butter sandwich in the shopping cart and your kid has a peanut allergy.

i eat steel cut oatmeal almost every single day and i've lost 80 pounds in the last 2 1/2 years. i use a quarter cup of dry oats as per the directions, a 2 to 1 ratio of water to nonfat milk, and i flavor it with either banana nutmeg, blueberry cinnamon, or spiced pumpkin puree. i also use olive oil to cook my scrambled eggs almost every day, and for many other frequent things beside. so you really don't know what you are talking about when it comes to those things. especially because, as a complex carb, oatmeal is very filling, and helps me to not have the urge to snack throughout the day like i would if i had a less hearty food in the morning.

the nuts i will give you though. i was putting crushed walnuts in my oatmeal almost every day for awhile there (as well as mashed avocado in my chicken, grain, and veggie bowls), and my weight loss was stalled out for a little while there, and i didn't realize why at first. now i only do the nuts and the avocado every once in awhile.

DuranOfForcena posted...
also that "cheap ass spray with 0 calories" doesn't actually have 0 calories, it has so small of a fraction of a calorie per spritz "serving" that they are legally allowed to round it off to 0, even though there is actually a small amount of calories in that spritz, and when you are doing 10 or 12 spritzes on something like most people will, you are getting the same exact amount of calories you would be getting by using the same kind of oil in a regular pour bottle instead of a wasteful and more expensive per ounce spray bottle. so you are dead wrong on that one.

Holy ****, you are taking this topic too far and literal. Put yourself in a perspective a novice person just trying to lose weight. Joe blow isn't over here measuring oatmeal by the cup and using almond milk and blah blah blah blah. The point of the damn topic is that I can easily make a healthy looking bowl of oatmeal 1000 calories and eat it every day. Holy ****, I can't do this anymore!! 2 cups of oatmeal, 3 big scoops of peanut butter, protein powder, milk, bananas, flax seeds/////make it look like on of those stupid acai bowls and bam.... Just Quttttt

Nut butters aren't bad, but you definitely need to weigh them by grams if you're using them because other measurements will always be inaccurate.

If you're trying to lose weight you should weigh everything you eat

That's great you've lost that much weight, but everyone is always going to be better off if they have an accurate record and knowledge of how many calories they consume. This is non debatable and mindfulness doesn't work for everyone.

Also uhhhhh you're only losing 2.5LBs per month? That's very, very, very slow. I can lose 1.5LBs a week when I go for a cut, or 6LBs a month.

Powdered Peanut Butter has all the flavor and more protein though. 32g of powdered peanut butter will literally make the thickest sandwich you've ever had

it's a rate that i am comfortable with. it's not a race. what i am doing to lose weight is steady and sustainable, and i know i will get to my target weight eventually with it, and staying at my target weight thereafter is something that i know i will be more than comfortable with maintaining for the rest of my life.

and for the first about 1 1/2 years, it was done completely through dietary changes alone, no physical activity whatsoever. i have severe scoliosis and chronic lower back pain, so what i can do physically is very limited compared to most. my pain was in such a bad condition by the time i had ballooned up to around 280 and been so sedentary for years that i couldn't do anything physical at all without the risk of aggravating the pain. last year i finally got back on Obamacare and in July started doing physical therapy and pain management. around September or so i also started doing daily low impact cardio. from that and from the rehabilitation thanks to the physical therapy, and the ongoing resistance band regimen i do almost every day, the pace of my weight loss has picked up a little bit. but it's still pretty slow according to most standards, i guess. i don't really care though, like i said, it's not a race.

Tc has the right idea fuck the haters.

Brocolli: deceptively healthy being loaded with vitamins and fiber but nobody eats broccoli by itself. Add the ranch dip, olive oil or bacon and suddenly its over 2000 calories.

Chicken breasts: low fat and full of protein. But it's also extremely bland. Most novices dieters will think I need to eat a lot of protein to gain muscle and lose fat... unfortunately they will not exercise and just gain fat. Add the gravy, butter or lard and one meal would be over 3000 calories.
