i'm up to 45 questions and he's nowhere close in guessing the character i'm thinking of

a few years ago, he was p good and got most of my guesses within 20 questions. somehow it's got worse

Just tried to do Nicol Bolas from MTG. Its the most popular and well known character from the game. It should have been relatively easy based on my past experience with akinator. Got to question 80 and it locked up. It asked 6 times in different ways what the gender was. It asked 3 times if it was a dragon (yes). It asked 3 times if it was black. It asked twice if it was evil.

So yeah that sucked.

i thought of james franco and it asked 3 times about the gender and one question if they had half black and half white hair colour

i gave up when the questions got to mid-50's since it was becoming repetitive or irrelevant

Oh man you weren't kidding they changed the design of the site it doesn't look like how it did. And it took a while for him to guess Dark wing duck, but I knew the moment he knew he was close. He was gonna guess launchpad based on his question, then gizmoduck based on a super obvious question, before he guessed darkwing instead of just saying dw straight away

Even when you pick popular things you end with with terrible and overly specific questions that aren't going to be of any use. Then when you get to things it is having trouble with, it can't remember all the answers so it does what other folks are saying, asking the same things over and over.

The real question is why is the Akinator interface so bad now. Used to be you press the giant play button, put in your age for statistical purposes and you go. There's so much shit on the screen now and everytime I go back to him once in a blue moon I have 10 seconds where I can't figure out how to start.

though i did respond yes to "does he have children" and "does he have a daughter" which apparently threw him off (cause people responded wrong)

41 questions to get HADES from Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's so weird because you used to be able to see him circle towards the one you were thinking of. It was suddenly at like question 35 that he asked if it was linked to Dr.Trayurus who is apparently a character in a Minecraft: LP.

And I switched to desktop and holy shit, there's like ten-thirty seconds of loading between each question.

What really bugs me about Akinator is you can't win. After 20 questions he guesses, but if you stumped him, it's just "Oh well, want to keep going?" Instead it should be like "You beat me! Want to keep going anyway?" And then after 50 more questions he acts like he's so smart for narrowing it down. Piece of junk.

Maybe the new one doesn't, but he used to give up after fifty or so questions.

He got the wolf from BNA (Shirou) without even asking if he was a wolf. I'd say Akinator is still pretty effective overall. I do notice a lot more clarifying questions though, like "Are they from Naruto/My Hero Academia/Dragon Ball Z?" etc. when they're from none of them. But I guess that helps narrow it down a lot.

I used Daniel Tiger since my kid watches that. Took 25 questions to get it, but it seemed weird when it could have done it in less than that many, pretty sure. Like it asked some weird questions for no reason.

I think sometimes those questions exist because it follows an 'expected' path and when it thinks you're talking about a different character, it will ask it again just to be sure you answered right the first time.

after 26 questions he guessed "Sinjin van Cleef from Victorious" then after 50 questions he guessed "Bowie Sherman from Some Assembly Acquired" then after 80 questions he guessed "Greg Wuliger from Everybody Hates Chris". then he gave up and asked me who my character is. anyways yeah the site has been ruined on 2 fronts. first of all its so fucking slow and laggy now thanks to the new design. second of all akinator now acts completely stupid and asks tons of irrelevant/absurd/repetitive questions due to people lying to him/unintentionally giving a false answer

He got Rosh Penin from JK3: Jedi Academy, but he did guess Anakin Skywalker first. I guess, thinking about it, they're kinda similar.

i was thinking Suezo from Monster Rancher, but he never got it. he kept asking stupid bullshit like, is your character a youtuber, did your character dye their hair, is your character from undertale, blah blah blah, he really did get fucked up

Couldn't figure out Logan from Logan's run. Was on the right track for a minute there.

Edit: just tried it again. Asked me if it was a Ubisoft game. I said yes. First answer was venom snake. The character I was thinking of was Sam Fisher. I guess it got the stealth part right.

Edit # 2: about 75 questions in before it locks up. Guessed Dante from inferno. Didn't think it would get it. Over 10000 people have tried that before.

I think the website in particular is garbage. I tried getting 2B from Nier, he was even asking the right questions like: "Does your character have white hair?" and "Does your character have a number in their name?" and it still locked up.

In my experience he only gets stumped up badly with very obscure characters (usually from books) or if you give bad answers.

I tried 4 and he got them all reasonably well

His AI seems worse now. He asks oddly specific questions too early that are blatant "no's" most of the time and that ends up inflating the total amount of questions he needs to ask.

They heavily monetized it and probably just want people to stick around for ads, so they don't want the solutions to be found quickly. In the past you were supposed to be surprised at how easily he guesses your character, but now you're basically going out of your way to help him get it, since that generates more clicks.

Okay, yeah, definitely much worse. It couldn't guess Es from Xblaze, and I'm pretty sure it did before. She wasn't even on the suggested list when I put her name in.

Also, it got Yu Narukami, but when I checked the report, it expected me to say yes both times when it asked "Is your character white-haired?" and "Does your character have gray hair?".

I agree.

This is the kind of site which you use for 10 minutes, forget about it for 5 years, remember about it when it's mentioned, use it for 10 minutes, then forget about it again.

The developers realized that, and are trying to make those brief & infrequent visits last as long as they can, so they could push as many ads as possible.
