Some places in my town have staff shortages. I mean, if fast food workers weren't treated so crappy, there would be more people willing to take those jobs, right?

Its almost like people dont want to wok a job that has shit pay/hours/and benefits, where you are told to be a slave to the customers every whim and a 10 cent yearly raise is considered generous.

On top of that, when people start to drop out or labor cuts are made daily, the burden is shifted onto the people who remain. This makes them fizzle out and leave as well.

For too long fast food places have had it too easy. The "cater to the customers and tell your employees to suck it" approach can only take them so far.

If its anything like in PA its because there is still an unemployment benefit. My girlfriend and I mathed it and you have to make like $15 an hour or more to even justify getting a job. Her workplace has had a lot of people applying but nobody showing up for interviews.

Companies will do literally anything to get out of offering competitive wages. Bonuses for interviews? Bonuses for staying 90 days? Kiss the fattest part of my ass - pay people properly and dont treat your employees like dirt. Aint exactly rocket surgery. Theres probably more to those places in particular.

I live in Texas and there is a $500 sign up bonus for a fast food chain that high-schoolers can get. I live in a rural town too where there isn't many jobs. Is there that many people on unemployment?

The clowns who run these corporations need to understand that they need to give people actual incentives to work. Stop offering shitty wages, shitty schedules, little to no benefits, and start giving people a reason to want to work.

Its amazing how absolutely out of touch these people are. It isnt like when they were working the low jobs in the 70s or 80s or whenever and could support a family, buy a house, etc.

That's more a sign of how low minimum wage is than anything tbh.

From what I hear, Sonic is one of the lower paying fast food chains. Not many people are going to risk getting sick if they have better options.

People have been saying that shit for decades now. Designing, making, and installing that level of automation would cost shitloads of money. The whole reason why people aren't working there is because companies aren't spending money on employees. Why the fuck would they spend even more on automation, then?
