And it took even longer if the virus wasn't all that contagious. For Covid 19 vaccines, there was a lot of interest from people to join their trials and the virus is extremely contagious so it made it super easy for scientists to gather data. Also like I said, idk much about vaccines but I read that stuff like HIV is extremely volatile, like it changes alot quicker than Covid19 or something like that. Makes it hard for people to even develop one for hiv.
