Most typical USB storage is likely not an SSD which is what all PS5 games are programmed to work with.

this. the SSD is a key component in delivering the load times the rest of the system depends on. even if the external storage was SSD, it'd be limited by the data transfer rates of USB.

Idk what the issue is but the only mention for trophies is that you can now customize which trophies it takes+saves screenshots for and a "quick summary" screen for trophies.

So basically you can use a slower USB 3.0 drive to download and keep current gen games up to date so that when you're ready to play it you move it to the SSD?

I've been doing it this way with steam for years.

That sounds disgusting.

One of the worst things about the PS4 management system is that despite adding folders (after a couple of years cause Sony are assholes) is that the horizontal system fundamentally makes it harder to have an overview of the content you have. It's so stupid. And speaking of trophies, they still haven't added the ability to list them alphabetically on the PS4, for no reason at all.

Sony should never be allowed to auto-win a console generation again. They're so lazy when they have no threat.

The same prices as every 1TB PCIE GEN 4 SSD. When PS5 has expanded storage, or an approved 3rd party it will actually cost more due to being harder to manufacture and not as mass produced.

MS used a M.2 2230 SSD form factor with specs compliant with drives already on sale. Sony's is ultra custom and so far nothing in existence works with the system.

for some people it is. i never bought the pro and i'd love the performance boost to the PS4 games i've yet to play.

if i could walk into a store today and grab one off the shelf i'd have one. just not interested in constantly F5'ing to fight the bots

I can download a 100gig game in like less than 5 min so I don't really care. Expanding the storage that you can play directly off of is more important to me personally and I have a feeling that's gonna be a while before we can do that.

thats still not worth 500 lol. if youre paying that much for superficial upgrades rather then for the actual games and next gen hardware youre not being very cost effective.

if i wanted to upgrade my pc speed and storage it'd cost less than half that for a new ssd and some ram

Ok.

Good thing speed and storage arent the only upgrades. And I forgot the fact that if you buy a Series X/PS5 now, they cant play games from the future that come out on that platform. Silly me, thanks for reminding me about that!
