Oh, could comfortable live in Seattle then. Could afford to buy a condo in town or a house in the suburbs, couldn't afford a house in Seattle proper most likely though.

this. $60k a year is pretty decent money. not a lot but decent. but if that's gross and getting taxed to hell and deductions then you have closer to half you're living off of. $60k post tax/deductions then that's plenty to live off of.

60K a year is decent, but it's definitely not 'a lot'. 60K a year is solid middle class. I couldn't raise a family where I live on that much.

Depending on your areas cost of living is plenty enough to live a comfortable life in most places of the US. Save/invest, purchase, and vacation at least once a year wherever you want.

if you mean how much you get after taxes, it's a lot in most places. It's going to depend where exactly where you live, but you can live comfortably with 5k after taxes in an apartment in most states and have bills and money saved for other stuff

I think the 30% rule towards rent applied to pretaxes/gross
