If you could pick only one.

I would probably go with Against Me! I saw them live in a fairly small venue with The Dirty Nil and Bleached after "Shape Shift with Me" came out. It was a blast.

Depeche Mode at the Hard Rock in Vegas in 2006. The band and entire crowd (all the way to the back) was crazy for the entire show and never slowed down.

Either Adam Ant in Toronto a couple years ago or Men Without Hats and Howard Jones in Niagara. Both great shows with fun performers. Sound mixing was phenomenal and they played everything I wanted them to

Pretty tough to choose, I've been to over 60 shows. One of the most special ones was Tera Melos and Boris being on the same bill with Master Musicians of Bukkake opening.

Standing front and center at the railing under Corey Taylor during a Slipknot set.

The pit raged behind me, my girlfriend at the time in front of me. Corey sweating above us.

We were all sweaty messes in the end.

I've been to a lot of shows, so it's tough to choose. Different shows stick out for different reasons. A few highlights:

-Jeff Mangum on his first tour after his "return." The admiration for his music became a palpable energy in the room, it was amazing. I saw him solo again and then once as a full band with Neutral Milk Hotel and they were all just as good, but the first will always stick out.

-Trash Talk in NYC. Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean had both had separate shows in NYC that night, and that morning Trash Talk announced a free show at midnight in Brooklyn. It was like a week after they had signed to Odd Future's label, so I had strong suspicions this was actually going to be an after party. I was right. Got to mosh with multiple members of Odd Future at one of the wildest shows I've ever been to. People were literally climbing on the piping of the ceiling.

-Oakland Fire Memorial Show. This one of the heaviest shows I've been to (in terms of emotion, not sound). A week after the Oakland warehouse fire, where a couple people I knew perished, this benefit show was put on. My friend Cash died in the fire, and her bandmate and girlfriend performed this really lovely cover of a Jimmy Eat World song for her that broke my heart. A bunch of other artists played. Dan Deacon sticks out because he was one of the only non-locals and his shows are always interactive. That was like the third time I've seen him and he led some group activities that amounted to therapy that was cool.

-Flag at Sound on Sound. Sound on Sound was a festival that only lasted a year and I'm thankful I got to attend that one year. I saw tons of incredible acts from Run the Jewels to Death Grips to The Dillinger Escape Plan to many, many others (even got to see a panel with The Needle Drop!). But the highlight for me was Flag, which is essentially Black Flag but they can't use the name because another old member has the rights and leads a fake Black Flag. But Flag is the real deal. There were multiple other punk legends in the crowd. During Rise Above I got to scream along the lyrics right next to the lead singer of Fucked Up (who did a live episode of his podcast Turned Out a Punk earlier in the day).

-Beach House in Central Park. On their tour for Bloom. A thunderstorm started during their set and swear the lightning was in sync to their music. It was beautiful.

-Animal Collective. I've seen Animal Collective and their various associated projects a combined total of at least ten times, but the time that sticks out most is their set they did for the Animal Collective Camping Weekend mini-festival they put on. Their set the second night was a super special and unique one that they haven't repeated.

-Flying Lotus and friends. I've seen FlyLo like five times now, but the best was the Brainfeeder label party where Thundercat, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, and others all opened and played together. Seeing Maggot Brain live was fucking awesome and something I'll never forget. I also booked it to the after party show that was in another city (Oakland to SF) and got to see Flying Lotus absolutely fucking hammered. It was right before the 2016 election and he went on a long political rant that was largely incoherent because he was so fucking drunk lol. I also saw him on New Years Eve one year and that show could also make this list in its own right.

-Pharmakon. All three times. The energy she puts into her live shows is absolutely incredible. There's a physicality to it that feels visceral. Like, you almost feel physically pained watching her. The first time I saw her was a backyard show in SF and she ended the set convulsing at my friend and I's feet.

-Swans. I've seen them three times and each time has been fantastic. It was cool to watch them over the course of a few years as their songs morphed and evolved. I liked when groups don't stick to their recorded material and experiment and evolve live (hence why I've seen Animal Collective so many times).

-Tons of locals shows with bands you probably haven't heard of with countless fun, unique, and memorable moments: from the showcase of local Filipino punk in a preschool, to an audiovisual noise set played on mostly repurposed Rockband instruments, to an ambient set as the background music to a light art show in a giant park, to backyard LA show with drag queens between sets. Those are just a few of the countless memories of small shows I've got.

I've definitely got plenty more memories and highlights, these really only scratch the surface. I can't wait to start going to shows again!

Been to a bunch so its hard for me to say definitely

Some standout shows I recall were The Foo Fighters back in 2000 or so with Queens of the Stone Age opening

or The White Stripes was a really fun back in 03-04 concert despite me only somewhat liking their music

I also saw Weezer just a few years ago and that was a good time

The last one I went to was February 2020 (the punk/drag show hybrid I mentioned). Unless I count the dude playing piano at the Petrosian bar, which almost scratched my live show itch because I was so starved.

I saw High on Fire at Psycho Las Vegas one year, and I regret not being in the crowd for that one. I was watching from a balcony, exhausted from an earlier set. They're actually a local band for me, but the only time I've seen them was not in CA lol (though I don't live there anymore anyway). Same for Sleep (who I also saw at Psycho Las Vegas). I've seen Om multiple times though. The first time was opening for Godspeed You! Black Emperor and mentioning that makes me realize I didn't put any GY!BE on my list, but they should definitely be on it. If I wasn't moving to Japan in September I would have already bought my ticket for their 2022 show.

Oh yeah, I've definitely got to add the time I got choked out at a Deafheaven concert. They're one of my favorite groups and the second time I saw them a dude was so passionately into the moment he just grabbed my throat while he was headbanging and singing. It wasn't like malicious and he wasn't trying to hurt me. This was on the tour for Sunbather when the singer was getting all BDSM-sexual on the stage with black leather gloves anyway, so it fit in. A very lovely moment of solidarity through music.

Ahahahah. Yeah, I had to leave the HoF show early because of the blood coming from my eyebrow. I only got to take in 5-6 songs. I met a guy up front that was ultra excited, big nose-ring, big nipple-rings. I forget how his named was spelled, but I think it was Eryk. Mine's Arek. He was Norwegian Heritage, mine's part Finnish. so we kept headbanging ultra hard. after a great intense song (maybe Slave the Hive??), we locked fists (he initiated it) and he went to headbutt me. It all made sense in the moment. I have no clue if it was his tooth or eyebrow piercing that cut my eyebrow. I wanted to stay, but I was definitely starting to get that weird lightheaded feeling, and it was too annoying having blood constantly in my eye.

I spent a good while outside talking to a Costa Rican kid who was high on crack (I was on East Hastings, Vancouver) about Dragon Ball Z. I accidentally asked him if he was Bolivian at first. I told him to try to stay off crack! He was trying to get some pussy and I told him it wouldn't help.

Weezer in. . . 96 or 97.

They played with No Doubt (who sucked). They played most of the Blue album & Pinkerton. . and I think they played the Dukes of Hazzard theme.

They were a great act. One of the very few I've heard that sound just like their albums.

If we're talking a single festival, Woodstock 99 was probably the best I'd seen, got 30' from the stage for every act I saw except Korn, and I wasn't getting near the stage for that one. 3 people died in that crowd when everyone started jumping up and down at the same time...
