I'm extremely sensitive to cucumber. People tell me they're mild/refreshing/taste like nothing, but not to me. I just can't bring myself to eat cucumber, and my tongue is highly sensitive to it. For example if someone makes a dish (like salad) with slices of cucumber, but then picks the cucumber out before serving it to me, I'll easily detect its flavor contaminating the rest of the salad.

This has been attributed to a variant taste receptor TAS2R38 which is sensitive to a bitter compound that is otherwise flavorless in the general population. The same compound is in canteloupe which I think tastes like acetone

I've very sensitive to something in mayo/miracle whip that isn't egg, that tastes disgusting... like a sickly sweet version of vinegar, or like someone put vegetable oil on a 9volt battery

This, tbh.

Otherwise afaik, none of my food dislikes (well, for normal foods) are shared by my relatives.

this

doesn't bother me to the point where I cant eat food that has cilantro but it does not taste like food at all to me and Ill avoid ordering or making something with more than just a little bit of it and its one of the few things that I might actually pick off of a plate

I absolutely hate the taste of all chocolate, domestic or otherwise. I dont know if its due to a mutation but it tastes bitter to me and makes me want to commit.

I don't like lager and other yeast strain flavors. Only ale yeasts for me. I'm not sure if it's genetics or personal preference.

I have the gene that makes piss after eating asparagus smell really pungent. That's the closest thing I know.

Oh, I and when we did the litmus taste in grade school I was able to taste the bitter.

I don't think so. I remember back in school, the teacher passed out some kind paper segments that were supposed to taste bad to anyone with specific genes. Just felt/tasted like I stuck a square of regular paper to my tongue.

I remember a similar test based on smell. I think it was supposed to be either a pleasant smell, or rotten pears, I did not smell anything at all.

It tastes good though, at least to many people. Sounds like all chocolate tastes bitter and bad to him.

Tea might be the most popular drink on the planet, yet I've never had a tea (using tea leaves I've had ginger tea and stuff that was fine) that didn't have a absolutely repulsive taste. Is that a tasting anomaly? Because I hate it, I can't help but feel I'd have an easier time losing weight if I could drink tea instead of soft drinks.

I also can't stand tea, but i more just don't like hot beverages and if you make a lukewarm tea or just let it cool it just has a really weak taste. I once tried putting 4 teabags in a thermos of boiling water and it also had virtually no flavour
