I don't use twitter but sometimes see screenshots posted elsewhere on the internet or embedded in news articles

I can't help but feel it's a bit pretentious

It is, especially if it's a pointless fake degree like NMD or DC

Twitter? Yes. If your Twitter handle has a bunch of credentials in it you're flaunting.

I mean, it depends on what the Twitter is for

If they use it purely in a professional sense that relates to their degree (a professor posting links to his labs recently published papers, etc), I don't see a problem with it

If you worked your ass off for a title, you should show it off.

Then put it in your bio or something. Putting it in your handle is like injecting it into every conversation, or introducing yourself as Dr. Soandso even outside of professional settings/conversations

This. Its obnoxious to have in your name unless youre branding yourself for a career thats heavily dependent on social media and that specific image.

Its also obnoxious to sign more than one and have them on documents beyond an identifier of role. I work with people who use like 2-5 of them. I once didnt add in like a sixth one for this one guy on an internal document and was told to reprint it.

Again, that is their title. They worked for it and want to be called it.

You don't get annoyed because someone wants to be addressed as "Mr.".

What if the title was king or president? Ive been club president, if I wanted everyone outside of the club to refer to address me as president blu would you be arguing they should? I worked for it, for sure.

Mr isn't really as pretentious (to me, an American) because it doesn't carry any special significance. Anyone who wants to claim the title can

Though if I'm talking to someone and refer to them by their first/last name and they correct me "that's MISTER firstname last name" I certainly would be annoyed

I really don't care what others put in their social media names. Although I will say some do provide some slight amusement.

It is a pet peeve of mine me when some folk who I don't know call me just by my last name. Not enough to correct them or make a big deal about it though. Hell some guy was calling me the wrong first name for months and I never corrected him.

My new job is for a company that handles pretty much all communications in and out of prison. Our main point of contact are the higher ranked COs. I was emailing one the other day that had EIGHTEEN titles and certificates in his sig. I bet that guy is a hoot at parties.

No, it's not. It's actually pretty fucking practical if it's an account associated with their business, which is the case with a lot of doctors, dentists, etc. If you're just a researcher, professor, or some shit, it doesn't have as much of a direct benefit.

If you're talking to customers about business, sure. Though most people are taking about pop culture or politics which doesn't really have to do with their DDS.
