A lot of places including retail chains and fast food places do still start around 7.50-8 dollars. Large cities like LA, Chicago, I assume to be higher. But mid tier cities through most of the south and midwest are definitely low minimum wage. Even in the city I live in, every place I've looked at and know people at starts at 8.
