I'm on A Matter of Honor

Riker deposed this dude so he can be the Captain lmao. I know his actions are more selfless than that really but it's really funny to me to read it as him indulging himself. I read him as the most egoistic star trek character

I'm on Measure of a Man

That scene made me want to play Poker with the boys

Also wtf was that scene with the prosecutor. Picard tells her outright how much he despises her and she's just like "You're a sexy man Picard :)"

There are some really nice episodes to cap off season 3. With the exception of Mnage Trois, everything from Tin Man onward is pretty high quality, and Best of Both Worlds is one of the defining episodes of Trek.

I don't think he actually lied. If I recall, his exact words were "Perhaps something happened during the transport," which is one of those kinds of deliberately ambiguous statements that's constructed so it's technically true no matter what.

Checking the script again, Riker asserted that the weapon had discharged, so Data wasn't actually obligated to give any answer; it was not a question. But he did deliberately omit the truth by offering an explanation that he knew to be false. If not meeting quite the burden of a lie, I think it is coming very close. Either way, a very eyebrow raising character development moment.

In the beginning of Menage a Troi, Riker checkmates a Ferengi and Wesley declares he perfectly played "A Queen's Gambit finishing with the Aldebran Exchange." Interesting that the terminology of Queen's Gambit still exists in 3D-chess, I'm curious how much elaboration of that game's ruleset there has actually been.

People can hate on this episode all they want but Picard having to launch into Shakespeare soliloquy to bear to complement Troi's mom is a great little Picard moment.

And skipping this episode would've made me miss Wesley's promotion to full ensign

After the Romulan attack at Khitomer, Worf was rescued by Star Fleet and placed with human foster parents, yes.

So did his upbringing involve keeping him in touch with Klingon culture? Are all Klingons just inevitably like how Worf acts regardless of upbringing? I was thinking about this because in the Serak episode they mentioned that Vulcans have the same emotional range as humans but they are taught and reinforced at a societal level to repress them. So applying the same logic to Klingons I'd expect Worf to be........ milder. Does he put on the mannerisms of Klingons to defend against the doubts and belittling by other Klingons he encounters?

He was cut off from Klingon culture since he grew up on Earth, and he compensates by trying to make himself the perfect Klingon now. It tends to put him at odds with other Klingons, since rarely do other Klingons hold themselves to the standards Worf holds himself to.

Picard putting down the tea without drinking was a surprisingly solemn ending to that sequence.

Great episode pair. A balance between character moments and some compelling action.

Yeah, Worf is actually pretty interesting. His only example of how Klingons act were the stories and history his human parents taught him. Because of that, he's actually kind of the epitome of a Klingon warrior because he holds himself to a standard that normal Klingons don't.

It's like if a human's only exposure to human culture was through super sanitized fairy tales about knights, then found out humans were actually more like Game of Thrones.

The premise was hated by series creator Gene Roddenberry, but Moore's script went into production nonetheless.
What the hell is this guy's problem. This was the best episode so far.

Remember Me episode

You'd think Gainan would say something to back Dr Crusher up since she had extra-sensory perception of Yesterday's Enterprise being a false timeline.
